Hi all,



Welcome today's edition of the tournament report.



Well, my friends that went to the Regional Event reported a less than expected turnout. The reported dominate deck type was, as predicted, Chaos with all it's varients. ATLUrbanLegend finished 6th, so that was good. Well, Memorial Day weekend is my last chance to qualify (like I'd really have time to go to Nationals anyway) and our team, Team Skull Servant, will be representing, so I'm going to give it my all.



On to today's battles!

About 13 people today. Less than usual, but a lot of the regulars did not attend. I guess they were recouperating from Regionals.

We got there a little early, so I dueled a bit with my "Hate Deck". It has all the things I hate. BLS and tons of equips! Of course it has a lot of warrior stuff, Mataza, DD Warrior Lady and the like, but it also has Maha Vailo. The deck is currently designed to do nothing but jack up any monster to ungodly proportions, clear the opponents S/T zone and pummel the hell out of them in a minimum of two turns. Hahaha. It's really only a stupid deck I threw together but, it can be effective! So, that was hilarious...ahem...



Onto the tournament! There were only 4 rounds today, due to the lack of participants.

ROUND 1
MONARCHS VS FINAL COUNTDOWN



Hmmm. A deck that does nothing but stall while Final Countdown ticks away.....



GAME 1
He plays Final Countdown on his first turn. It takes me fifteen turns to finally get rid of all his Reapers, Man-Eater Bug, Old Vindictive Magician, Battle Footballer and whatever thing he could set, but I win. I had to use my Magician of Faith to get Nobelman of Crossout back every time! Grrr, that's annoying....



GAME 2
I side deck in my trample.



Final Countdown on his first turn again! It doesn't take me as long to get rid of everything this time. Zaborg, Nimble, Tiger, and Enraged Battle Ox help get his little flip effect monsters out and do some damage along the way. I do get whacked a couple of times when I attack Battle Footballer with Nimble or what have you, but Smashing Ground, Ring, Zaborg and such take them out fairly easily.



ROUND 2
MONARCHS VS CCCC



He claims his deck is different and not Chaos but, he lies...BLS, Kycoo, Blade Knight, same ol' same ol'....I about fell asleep during these duels....



GAME 1
He gets the upperhand early with a Bottomless Trap Hole and Ring of Destruction. But then, Metamorphosis flippin' OWNS him. TER takes his stupid BLS and then a second one takes his Kycoo after he plays Smashing Ground on my TER.



GAME 2
My Graceful Charity, Delinquent Duo and TER sucking up a Kycoo come through for me again. No problem. I hate to sound like a jerk, but I played this guy like a fiddle. LoL. I know how he plays and I know what he'll play. He's like a little ferret, jumping up and down in his chair and getting all excited when he feels he has a good play coming. He's a good example of why you should pay attention to your opponents body language and expression.



SEMI FINALS
MONARCHS VS DRAGON



Crap. I have to play my daughter. She's been on a roll lately, mowing down everyone! Last week she took second place, beating three of the toughest players in the store. She and I finished 1 & 2 yesterday, me scooping to give her the win, and she consistantly beats the pants off me. Well, if I lose now, I'm happy to lose to her.



GAME 1 and 2
She got nothing in both her opening hands. Her deck just stalled and sputtered out while my Monarchs revved up and ran on all cylinders. I couldn't help it, I got great hands and she got bad ones and I ran over her...I felt really bad but, that's life. She hates it when I win too, because she ALWAYS wins when we duel at home but can never seem to defeat me during tournament play.



FINALS
MONARCHS VS BURN



A burn deck. Hmmm. I've faced this deck many times and it can be really fast. I know what to side deck if I lose the first game.



GAME 1
Ha. It ends in a tie! Crap! I thought I had him when he only had 1600LP left and I had 3600LP. In his draw phase, I activated Ring of Destruction on my tokenless Breaker for 1600LP damage but he chained about a zillion things including a Secret Barrel and Just Desserts, so that when the chain resolved, we both died.



GAMES 2 and 3
Nothing I side decked really helped, I kept attacking with Nimbles and stuff under his Gravity Bind, but it wasn't enough. He burned me faster than I could attack him. I use RoD on a Lava Golem and that hurt a lot but I couldn't take the 1000LP per turn. I never drew my Ceasefire or Jinzo or any other card that could have helped me stop the flames. If anything, this duel convinced me to put the Royal Decree back in my side deck, which I promptly did.



Well, I got three packs for coming in second and pulled a bunch of nothing. Hooray.



So, that's it for this week. Next week should be a better challenge because all the regulars should be back in force.
