My Report:
The day started off pretty bad. The other half of Team
ACROSS almost couldn’t make it, and when we got there, I
pulled a Fusilier out of my pack. Josh said “Can’t you tell
if there’s a holo inside?” And I said “Oh yeah, let me pick
your pack”. I checked them out and picked one…Silent
Swordsman LV3. At the start of the tourney, I randomly got
paired with a n00b.
Match 1: Il Palazzo vs. Random n00b kid
Game 1: First, she set all her S/T cards, of which none were
useable. I used Duo somewhere to discard nothing good. She
had almost no monsters, and I killed her with Reflect and
Assailant.
Me: 8000-7000
Her: 8000-6300-4600-3100-1400-0
Game 2: I side-decked everything defensive out of my deck
for attackers. I think she side-decked all 15 cards. She did
some damage to me with Ceasefire and some other things, and
she got a Summoned Skull with Malevolent Nuzzler. I had a
ring, but at this point it would kill me, so I removed it
with DDA and attacked with a full field of monsters.
Me: 8000-7750-5600-5150-3150
Her: 8000-7400-5700-4000-2300-0
Record: 1-0
Match 2: Il Palazzo vs. Randy (Flip effect/beatdown)
Game 1: I’ve dueled this kid a lot. He is a decent player,
and pretty cool. I beat him with Duo, MST, Goats, DDA, and
Reflect. He had some Night Assailants and Penguin Soldiers,
but they didn’t help him much.
Me: 8000-7000
Him: 8000-6300-4600-1700-400-0
Game 2: I got all monsters and Mirror Force in the opening
hand. I attacked his Sangan with a DDA. He activated Solemn
Wished and played Wave Motion, Premature-ed Sangan and
offered for Mobius, destroying a Bottomless and Mirror Force
– chained with Bottomless. He had Soul Tiger and I had DDA.
He did something with Creature Swap, but I beat him with
DDA, Wanghu, and Reaper.
Me: 8000-5500-4900
Him: 8000-8500-8200-8700-7000-5300-3600-4100-0
Record: 2-0
Match 3: Il Palazzo vs. Stewart (Unclassed deck)
Game 1: He barely touched me. He used Giant Orc, killed some
of my monsters with Torrential, and used Heavy Storm. I
killed him with Gorilla.
Me: 8000-7800
Him: 8000-7900-5900-2200-0
Game 2: He summoned Jinzo, but I had a Controller. He
Ring-ed King Tiger. Later on, he had defense monsters, but
Gorilla and E. Battle Ox beat him within a few turns.
Me: 8000-6300
Him: 8000-6300-5500-3700-2000-600-0
Record: 3-0
Match 4: Il Palazzo vs. Jesse (Exodia)
He usually doesn’t have a very good deck. He traded most of
his cards for DBZ cards. I watched a fun duel between him
and Josh and saw Exodia…
Game 1: He stalled me forever and I lost to Exodia.
Me: 8000-7900-7400
Him: 8000-7900-7400
(I don’t remember how that happened, but I wish I did lol)
Game 2: I side-decked 9 cards for this one. A first turn Duo
and a well-timed Mobius won this one for me.
Me: 8000-7000
Him: 8000-7000-4200-5100-0
Game 3: All I remember of this game is I had 2 Enraged
Battle Ox and he had 1 card on the field…Spirit Reaper lol.
Me: 8000-7300-6100
Him: 8000-6800-3800-5000-0
(He must’ve used Draining Shield)
Record: 4-0
Match 5: Team ACROSS Il Palazzo vs. Team ACROSS Nabeshin #4
(Deck type: Gravy)
This is the match of the night. The two best players in the
store fighting amongst team-mates for first place.
Game 1: He hit 3 goats with an Enraged Battle Ox-ouch, but
after a long, hard duel, I came back for the win.
Me: 8000-6300-4600-4300-3500
Him: 8000-7900-6100-3000-1200-0
Game 2: I got hand advantage really early and he was
top-decking within a few turns. He hit me a couple times
with Kycoo and Gorilla, but it didn’t last. Smashing Ground
ahoy! This one didn’t take as long as the last one.
Me: 8000-6200-4200-2900
Him: 8000-7000-5300-3600-1900-0
Record: 5-0! I made a profit of a whole $2 in store credit!
Actually, the $7 helps because they are having a sealed deck
tournament for TLM in June, so I’ll have some payment for
that.
Props:
Winning
Team ACROSS taking first and second place
Seeing a guy walk around in a Darth Vader voice-changing
mask lol
Trading a DR1 Spell Shield for an Obnoxious Celtic Guard
Slops:
Pulling a Fusilier out of my pack
Pulling a Silent Swordsman LV3 out of Josh’s pack
