Tournament Report for May, 28, 2005

Hi All,

I hope this writing finds you well and winning!

Today's tournament report is going to be much, much shorter than yesterday's due to the fact that I got eliminated pretty early. I was very surprised and somewhat angered because the deck did so well yesterday, finishing first and pretty much putting the hurt on every opponent I faced. I struggled every duel today and the deck just didn't seem to flow as well as it did. Plus, I got beat by the usual stuff, too. I never seemed to draw the cards I needed to counter all the things the deck was designed to.

I got there very early, around two hours before the tournament sign up, just so I could play around with some interesting decks I have built. I wanted to test my Defense deck, my Final Attack Orders deck and my DD Crazy Beast deck. We'll, all of them did marginally well. The Defense deck held up better than the others against the "generic" decks, nearly beating a Phoenix Chaos deck but, still didn't finish on top. The Final Attack Orders deck got spanked by a retarded "modified" zombie structure deck. I managed to do 6800LP damage in one attack but the returning swarm of zombies overwhelmed me. The DD Crazy Beast deck just got royally owned by the CCCC. So, back to the drawing board for all of those. The Defense deck and FAO deck are the two that work the best, so, I will probably work on those.

Anyway, I made a few slight changes to the deck from yesterday, maindecking a couple of cards and side decking others. It still has a lot of tech for flip effects, specifically to stop Magician of Faith and Cyber Jar but, those did not play a factor in any of today's duels. Every time I needed Mobius, he wasn't there, except once and then, it was too late.

ROUND 1
MONARCHS VS ZOMBIE/FIEND

This is one of the boys I bring with me most of the time. He is my nemesis. I think I stated this before but, God has placed this child in my life to keep me humble. This kid can pick up 40 cards from the floor of the store and beat me with them. LoL. I'm not joking. I told everyone at my table he was going to beat me.

GAME 1
OK. So, he didn't beat me but he gave me a run for my money. He kept using Tribute to the Doomed and Dark Core to get rid of my monsters then, Book of Life the discards to the field. Grrr. He finally got rid of his hand and I was able to get the upperhand. He had a Call of the Mummy on the field but didn't draw any monsters.

GAME 2
Oh crap! I get totally owned! Tribute to the Doomed by a discarded Despair From the Dark, then Book of Life and Reaper tributed for Vampire Lord. He completely killed me.

GAME 3
I knew it!!! This kid was going to kill me! He dropped out a Mystic Plasma Zone and his Archfiend Soldier killed off my Gorilla and I was getting hurt by a field spell card! My Kycoo's weren't more powerful than his Archfiend Soldier and I was going to lose! No!!!!
Mobius where are you! Oh, I get lucky and draw a Smashing Ground! My Kycoo is free to attack now and I start taking out monsters from his Graveyard. When he tries to activate Book of Life, he can't do it's effect because the only zombie in his graveyard, I removed earlier with Kycoo. Whew! I sweat that one out and BARELY eek out the win!

ROUND 2
MONARCHS VS MAGICIAN OF FAITH/CHAOS

This is the guy I beat in the Semi Finals yesterday. Having played him two more times since then, I can tell you this deck is built around one thing (besides the obvious light and dark BLS junk). Magician of Faith. No doubt about it, this deck tries to abuse that little spellcaster to it's fullest potential and today, it succeeded.

GAME 1
Magician of Faith beats me. Unbelievable. He reuses Nobelman of Crossout, Graceful Charity and Heavy Storm twice each on me.

GAME 2
This time I manage Nobelman all his Magicians but, am killed by Book of Moon and crazy LUCK. I swear he must have drawn all three of them within the first two turns because every time I summoned anything, he would respond with a BoM. I Delinquent him in my opening turn, but he plays Pot and Graceful so, I wasted 1000LP. He Snatched my Gorilla and tributed it for Jinzo when I had a buch of traps set. I Exile him but then he draws Premature Burial and brings him back after he plays Heavy Storm. WT?! He attacks my Sangan and I get Injection but he BoM's her! I top deck my Snatch Steal when I am holding Mobius and Snatch his Jinzo. When I tribute it for Mobius, I get smacked in the face by another Book of Moon! This was all within maybe 4 or 5 turns. Then he Calls his flippin' Jinzo back! I suppose this was retribution for my victory yesterday. Of course, I get mad and say I'm tired of getting beaten by the same crap. Blah, blah, blah to me.....Why don't I just shut up and quit...I'll send a hate mail to myself.

So, I'm out in the second round today. I leave early, buy some Pizza and take it home. I spend the rest of the day playing Disgaea.
