Subject: Gravekeeper Onslaught - Kyle Theaker
Location: Books-A-Million in Sunrise, FL
Price: $1
Format: Traditional
Prizes:
1st: 2 packs
2nd: 1 pack
3rd and lower: a couple common cards that suck
Hey everyone, it’s Kyle again. Earlier this month I
submitted another report where I did terrible. This time was
a big turn around.
Before the Tourney began, I bought a pack of SOD hoping to
get the Mystic Swordsman Lv. 4 for my Swordsman/Control
Deck, but I pulled a Mind on Air. Dang.
Deck:
Monsters: 17
[1] Jinzo
[1] Gravekeeper’s Chief
[3] Gravekeeper’s Spy
[3] Gravekeeper’s Spear Soldier
[3] Gravekeeper’s Assailant
[1] Gravekeeper’s Cannonholder (I don’t care what anyone
thinks, this card is awesome)
[2] Mystic Tomato
[1] Breaker the Magical Warrior
[1] Tribe-Infecting Virus
[1] Sangan
Spells: 17
[1] Pot of Greed
[1] Graceful Charity
[1] Delinquent Duo
[3] Necrovalley
[2] Terraforming
[1] Magic Reflector
[1] Smashing Ground
[1] Nobleman of Crossout
[1] Snatch Steal
[1] United We Stand
[1] Swords of Revealing Light
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Mystical Space Typhoon
[1] Book of Moon
Traps: 6
[3] Rite of Spirit
[2] Solemn Judgment
[1] Mirror Force
Round 1: Some n00bish kid
I really don’t remember this match well. All I remember is
getting out Necrovalley early on, hitting a Cyber Jar and
getting 2 Spies and an Assailant. Next turn I flipped the
Spies, grabbed a Spear Soldier and Cannonholder, sacrificed
a Spy for Jinzo and beat him down. He had 100 left once my
monsters were done beating on him, so I used Cannonholder’s
effect…
He really had no chance against me. We both knew it, so I
offered him the chance to concede, which he took.
Round 2: Horus Using kid
This is the same kid who annihilated me last time, so I was
pretty nervous facing him.
Round 1: OUCH! He had out Lv. 8 and Jinzo before I had a
Necrovalley, so I conceded.
Round 2: Gravekeepers swarmed. End of story.
Round 3: This was a great round. He got out Lv. 8, but I had
Necrovalley, so I wasn’t scared. Lv. 8 may have a huge Atk.,
but he’s Assailant bait once I have Necrovalley out. Lv. 8
was history. It came down to him with 2 facedown M/T and a
monster and me with about 3000, a Spear Soldier and an
Assailant. Oh yeah, and my 2 Solemn Judgment. Good game.
Finals: (I know, only 3 rounds) Another Horus kid.
This is where problems began. I really messed up. I had
borrowed my mom’s key to get into her house, but I had
forgotten to return it. She wasn’t happy and came to get me.
I had to duel fast.
Round 1: It was fast. I won.
Round 2: We were trading blows until my mom showed up, so we
agreed to each take 1 pack and duel for the third another
day.
I opened my pack, praying for my Swordsman, and guess what I
got… That’s right, a Mind on Air. I hate that stupid waste
of toilet paper. I got one in my first SOD pack, too. Grr…
Props:
1. Dominating with an Advanced deck in a sea of Traditional
2. Getting the Magician of Faith and Mystic Lv. 2 I needed
3. Getting some Pokémon cards that I needed (Pidgeot)
Slops:
1. Pulling all those stupid Mind on Air cards
2. Having the finals cut short
Well that wraps it up. I’m working on a Zombie and Mystic
Swordsman deck, so look for reports on those soon.
