Okay, so the Spellcaster deck is Faux Pa with Magical Dimension being it’s only support. But that’s the point. Magical Dimension is one of the best anti-Monarch cards. 1. Its a Chainable spell. Mobias don’t likey. 2. Monster avoidance. Zaborg (and a handful of other things) lose their target. 3. It changes my hand. This has never happened so far. But a nice chain with Thestalos might mean I’m Handless.
We get there ten minutes late. Thank goodness she let us in. Me, Peter and Jacob come in and meet Will half-way trough a duel. Peter and Jacob start shuffling. I go to my first round, the most challenging match of the day. Let’s go to the first round
I get a bye. 1-0
After everyone was done I sat with Matt. Someone I didn’t know talking about weird strategy’s. Which is funny because I saw flashes of cards from his deck and could tell it was a Cookie. Finally the next match was announced.
2nd Round Tim vs. Rich
This dude was playing some weird Tribute like deck, he tried a lot of rule breaks because he didn’t know he was doing something wrong. Matches were actually fast but he kept getting stopped in the middle of his turn whenever he would do something wrong. I didn’t want to sound like a rule shark but when he tried to play Call with Jinzo on the field I was starting to get a little snotty.
1st Match This round I actually remember in detail. We cut each other’s decks. He looked at my beloved Pink Slips and noticed my deck was twice as tall as his. Which would be because I put my black Yugioh sized slips on them and then put on the Larger Pink Slips, thus Double-Slipping my cards so that I seemed to be a noob. “How many cards are you playing?” he asked. “Oh, about sixty,” I said. My double-slipping technique was working.
He goes first and sets a monster and two s/t’s. I set GK Spy, Royal Decree, and Scapegoat. I was planning on making this quick because I had Cybernetic Magician in hand. He sacrifices his face-down monster for Cybernetic Magician, sets another card and equips Mage Power to his Cyber. Attacks my spy and I pull another spy in attack mode. He ends and I chain Scapegoat. I draw, Creature Swap the Spy, switch my goats to attack, discard three cards (including my own Cybernetic Mage) attacked, he Chained Waboku, I chain decree and it’s over.
Tim, 8000 Rich, 8000-5800- Destroyed by Flesh-eating Mutton.
Match 2
I remember that he got Sacred Turkey of Nephyty’s out, but I just Smashinged it out of the way for Kycoo to remove it.
Tim, 8000- 5600 (Ring) – 5400 (some battle damage of sorts) Rich, 8000- 5600 (Ring) -3800 (Kycoo)- 3700 (battle damage) – 1700 (Magical Marionette) -0
Tim 2-0
Round 3 Tim vs. Matt
Great, me against the only cookie here
I lose the first match. We were both top decking and he ended up with better cards.
Tim, 8000- 5600 (Ring) - 3200 (directly from Zabby)- 800 (Zabby) -0 Matt, 8000- 5600 (Ring) – 4700
I sided in some Upstart Goblin and Megamorph. It was back and forth a lot, but Chaos Command Magician saved me the duel with its negation.
Tim, 8000- 5900 (Ring on Cyber Dragon) Matt, 8000- 5900 (Ring) – 4700- 5700 (Upstart) – Chaos
3rd match was funnier because he was top decking while I had DMoC out, he plays goats to protect himself but I had Otohime waiting forever in my hand. He scoops after toping a Heavy.
Tim, 8000 Matt, 8000, 9000, 7400 (Breaker Directly), 4600 (DMoC on Mutton), 1800 (Mutton), SCOOP
Finals Tim vs. Peter
I’m glad that I made it to the Finals but Peter seems to get incredible luck at Tourny’s with his Dark Dust Spirit Deck. My deck beat the crap out of him at home. Next two rounds I would only draw either Monsters(Tributes I might add) or Spells with a single DMoC in hand. Quite disappointing.
I lose.
Oh well, I still get two packs. After Peter told everyone he won, Jacob pointed out he only played himself, Will, Kevin (Gearfried), and me. So he and will opened two of Peters packs and Peter pulled 2 Solemn Judgment and a PoA. I let Will and Jacob pick my Champ packs from the box and they got me an Enemy Controller and a Night Assailant! Take that Peter! I traded my Night Assailant for a RoD which is being sold to Will for $. Turned out to be a good day. Props: -Me getting the only Foil out of the 15 people there. -2nd place with Spellcasters - Being let in even though we were ten minutes late. -Enemy Controller
Slops: -Losing to Peter -Getting a bye - Losing to Peter -Being there ten minutes late -Losing to Peter
