I’m Shaddymaze and I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I went
to this place called Whateverdot
on March 11, 2006, and 12 people showed up. On this
particular day they were doing a
Swiss format, where we play four matches and the top
player gets $20 store
credit. I was running my Zombie Deck.

I know the following Tournament Report is rather long,
but I got sick of reading those two
sentence duels where little is remembered and the most
exciting parts are a blur. I like longer
reports where the details are known. With that said, I
may have gone overboard with the
turn-by-turn detail, but it gives the FULL situation,
which is what I hope to give in the following
report. I spent a lot of time on it, so please digest it
at your leisure and enjoy.
Match #1
Duel #1
For the first match I go up against this odd character
(the kind a little too into Naruto)
I flip
the coin and lose, and he decides to go first. I'm
starting the think I need a different coin.
He draws and sets one S/T and summons Archfiend Solder,
then ends.
I draw and have Heavy, Snatch, Reaper, Bottomless, Call,
and Book of Life. I set Reaper
and the Bottomless and end.
He summons Giant Orc, which
I bottomless and then he attacks with Archfiend to my
face
down monster, putting Reaper face up. Then he sets one
S/T then ends. I'm seeing fiends,
so I'm thinking about saving my
Bottomless's for Dark
Necrofear's and especially Dark Ruler
Ha Des.
I draw another Bottomless, I guess prayers do get
answered. Then I play Heavy on his
two S/T's, a Sakuretsu Armor
and Skill Drain. I set the Bottomless and play Snatch on
his
Archfiend Soldier and put Reaper into attack. Archfiend
Soldier and Reaper attack directly
(and in that order, Goldd,
Wu-Lord of Dark World might hit and I want to do as much
certain damage as possible). He's now at 5800 and Reaper
takes a Negate Attack from
his hand. Then I end my turn.
He draws and gains 1000 from Snatch and is now at 6800.
He summons Mystic Tomato
(Tomato) and attacks my Reaper, and I take 1100 and am
now at 6900. Then he sets two
S/T's and then ends.
I draw Sakuretsu Armor. Then
attack with Archfiend Soldier to his Tomato and he
activates
his face down S/T, Dust Tornado on my Snatch, putting
Archfiend Soldier on his side. I enter
Main Phase 2 and put Reaper into defense and then set
the Sakuretsu Armor. Then I
end.
He draws, and then puts both Archfiend Soldier and
Tomato into defense. Odd I thought until
he activates his face down set card, Zero Gravity,
putting my Reaper and his Archfiend
Soldier and Tomato into attack mode. He attacks with
Archfiend first and I take the 1600
and am now at 5300. He attacks with Tomato and I
activate Sakuretsu Armor on
it. He then
sets one S/T an ends.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and set it and then end. He
activates his one face down S/T, Solemn
Wishes at my end phase.
He draws and gains 500 from Solemn Wishes and is now at
7300. That might get annoying.
He attacks my new set card, Pyramid Turtle, with
Archfiend Soldier and Pyramid Turtle
searches for V. Lord. Then he sets one monster and ends.
I draw Torrential and then attack the Archfiend Soldier
with V. lord putting him at 7200, and
he drops a MST from V. Lord's effect. Then I end my
turn. And all he has is a Solemn
Wishes active and a face down monster.
He draws and gains 500 from Solemn Wishes, putting him
at 7700 then summons another
Archfiend Soldier, which I activate Bottomless on, since
I have him on the run. Besides, why
summon a 1900 attack monster against V. Lord's 2000. He
must of had a combination. Then
he flips summons a Mask of Darkness, which gets him
back Zero Gravity, which he sets,
then ends.
I draw Regenerating, which I summon and put V. lord into
defense and put the reaper into
attack mode. I'm trying to force the Zero Gravity
activation. Or maybe he won't see this
setup will doing 100 more damage. Then I attack his Mask
of Darkness with the Regenerating
and then 300 from Reaper, putting him at 6500. Then I
end.
He draws and gains 500 putting him at 7000. Then sets
one S/T and ends.
I draw Book of Life then attack with the Regenerating
and Reaper, which he takes, putting
him at 4900. I've done 200 extra over two turns, It's
peeving me that he's not activating
the Zero Gravity. What is he waiting for? I set the
Call and end, and he activates his S/T at
my end phase, another Solemn Wishes.
He draws and gains 1000, putting him at 5900. Then sets
one monster and ends. Those
Solemn Wishes are just aggravating, regardless of
whether I'm up or not.
I draw and get a Sakuretsu
Armor. Then attack his face down with Regenerating and
he
activates his Zero Gravity finally, putting V. Lord into
attack, and Regenerating and Reaper
into defense. Then I attack his face down monster with
V. Lord into another Mask of
Darkness, which gets him back the Zero Gravity. Now I'm
thinking he's running a Trap Deck
and using annoying tactics to frustrate his opponent
into submission. I end.
He draws then gains 1000, putting him at 6900, then sets
two S/T's and ends.
I draw Ryu
Kokki and sacrifice the
Reaper for it. Trying to force the Zero Gravity. Then I
attack with Ryu
Kokki and he activates his
Zero Gravity putting V. Lord and
Ryu Kokki into
defense and my Regenerating into attack. I attack
directly with Regenerating, which he takes
and puts him down to 5100. Finally some damage is going
through. Then I end and he
activates his face down S/T at my end phase, Dust
Tornado on my Call.
He draws and gains 1000, now he's at 6100. Then he sets
one S/T and ends. Traps aplenty,
I've got to doing something quickly just to end this
foreplay.
Then I draw V. Lord and hoping for a Torrential I
sacrifice the Regenerating for another
V. Lord. He does not respond. Then I put
Ryu
Kokki and the other V. Lord back into
attack mode and attack with Ryu
Kokki and he activates his
face down S/T Sakuretsu
Armor. Then I attack with the V. Lords and he takes the
4000, putting him at 2100 and he
loses two traps, both Skill Drains. Then I end my turn.
He draws laughs and gains 1000, now at 3100 then sets
one monster then ends. That
opponent laughter is almost never a good sign.
I draw Pyramid Turtle, and trying to finish this duel
summon it then attack his face down
monster with V. Lord, a night assailant, which kills the
Pyramid Turtle, but the other
V. lord attacks, putting him at 1100 and taking another
trap, a Sakuretsu armor.
Then I end.
He draws an scoops, showing me his Dark Ruler Ha Des.
Match #1
Duel #2
I'm killing myself for not bringing a side deck. I guess
it's just not my day.
He opts to go 1st again, which I don't mind. Going
second seems to be the precursor to my
wins today. He summons Archfiend Soldier and one S/T and
ends. His same opening play
from last duel.
I draw and have Crossout,
Regenerating, Treeborn Frog
(Treeborn),
Ryu
Kokki, Dust
Tornado, and Reaper. I set Treeborn
and the Dust Tornado and end.
He draws and summons Giant Germ (Germ) and attacks my
face down with the Archfiend
and takes out my Treeborn
and then I take the 1000 attack from the Germ then he
ends.
I activate Dust Tornado on his one set S/T a
Sakuretsu Armor during his
end phase.
I draw a Pyramid Turtle and special summon the
Treeborn and I set the
Pyramid Turtle and
end my turn.
He summons Goblin Elite Attack Force (Goblin Elite) and
attacks my Treeborn with
Germ
and then my face down with Archfiend, a Pyramid Turtle,
which gets me a Ryu
Kokki, holding
off his attack. Then he sets one S/T and then ends his
turn.
I draw a Morphing Jar. I Special Summon the
Treeborn and sacrifice it
for the Ryu
Kokki in
my hand. I attack his Goblin Elite with one and then the
other attacks his Archfiend Solder, he’s
now at 7300. Then I end my turn.
He draws and sets one monster and puts his Germ into
defense then ends.
I draw MST and take out his S/T during my draw phase, a
Skill Drain. Then special summon
the Treeborn in defense and
normal summon my Regenerating and play
Crossout on his face
down Night Assailant. I attack his Germ taking 500, now
I'm at 6500, then he special
summons another, which I attack with my other
Ryu
Kokki, and he takes 1400, putting him
at 5900 and me at 6000 and my attack with Regenerating
is stopped by Kuriboh from
his
hand. With so many fiends in his graveyard I can feel
Dark Necrofear coming soon,
but
don't have much to stop it. Then I end my turn.
He draws then removes Kuriboh,
and the two Germs for a Dark
Necrofear. Then attacks with
it into my Ryu
Kokki, doing 200 to him,
he's at 5700, then activates Swords and sets one
monster and ends with Dark
Necrofear taking control of my
Ryu
Kokki.
I draw a V. Lord and set the Reaper and put Regenerating
into defense mode and end my turn,
with the first turn of Swords finishing.
He draws then attacks my Regenerating with
Ryu
Kokki. Then sets one monster and ends.
I draw Regenerating and end my turn with the second turn
of Swords ending.
He draws and attacks my face down monster with
Ryu
Kokki to find a Reaper then he flips one
of his face down monsters, Mask of Darkness, to get
back Sakuretsu Armor, and he
sets one
S/T, obviously Sakuretsu
Armor, and one monster and then ends.
I draw Dark Hole. His two face down monsters are
tempting for me to take out plus the Dark
Necrofear on my
Ryu
Kokki, so I activate the Dark Hole to clear the
field of his Ryu
Kokki,
Reaper, and two Mask of Darkness'. And I summon
Regenerating and end my turn, with
Swords also over and him with only a set
Sakuretsu Armor.
He draws and says something anti-Semitic about the card
he just drew and he sets one monster
and ends.
I draw Snatch and special summon the
Treeborn and sacrifice it
for V. Lord and attack with the
V. Lord to his face down and he activates
Sakuretsu Armor destroying
the V. Lord, then I
attack his face down with Regenerating and find another
Mask of Darkness, which gets him
back the Sakuretsu Armor. I
wondered why he activated it on V. Lord, but his only
other trap
was Skill Drain. I attacked with the right monster
first. Then I end.
He Draws and summons Goblin Elite and attacks my
Regenerating with it and I'm at 5600.
Then it goes to defense and he sets one S/T (wonder
what) and ends.
I draw Waboku and special
both V. Lord and Treeborn
and play Snatch on his Goblin Elite and
put it into attack then attack with it, which activates
his Sakuretsu Armor, and V.
Lord bites
to take out MST from his deck and now he's at 3700. And
then I set the Waboku and
end.
He draws and sets one monster and ends with only that on
his field and nothing in hand.
I draw Confiscation and half-hoping for a
Sangan, I attack his face
down monster with V.
lord, just to find a
Tomato, which searches for another one. And I end.
Then he draws and sets one S/T and puts Tomato into
defense then ends.
I draw Bottomless and attack the Tomato with V. Lord and
it searches for Kuriboh and
I
set the Bottomless and end, at which point he activates
his face down S/T a Solemn Wishes.
He draws and gains 500, putting him at 4200 and he sets
on S/T and puts Kuriboh into
defense.
And ends.
I draw and get Breaker. I summon Breaker and he
activates his face down S/T, Skill Drain and
pays 1000 for it negating my Breaker's effect but puts
him at 3200. I attack his Kuriboh
with
Breaker, and V. Lord takes out 2000 putting him at 1200,
but not taking a card from his deck.
I end.
He draws and gains 500 putting him at 1700, and he sets
one S/T and ends.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and attack with V. lord which
activates his Sakuretsu
Armor and I take
out 1600 with Breaker, taking him down to 100 and I set
the Pyramid Turtle and end.
He draws and scoops, showing me Dust Tornado in hand.
My first duel was more annoying than tough, but I know I
now have a difficult 2nd to face.
Match #2
Duel #1
The second duel I knew would be interesting. I was
running Zombie and so was he. Mine's
was more fitted towards the
metagame, while his was more out of the structure
deck, but
modified a little. I win the coin toss and decide to go
first.
I get Des Lacooda, Dust
Tornado, Swords, Pyramid Turtle, Regenerating, and
Waboku. I
set the Pyramid Turtle and the Dust Tornado then end.
He draws and sets one monster and one S/T and ends.
I draw Book of Life and set the Des
Lacooda and Waboku
and then end.
He draws and then sets one monster and ends. Let the
setting war begin.
I draw another Book of Life then I flip Des
Lacooda and draw a Reaper.
Then I put Des
Lacooda back down and end
my turn, attempting to draw out his attack.
He draws and flips a Merchant getting immediately a Card
of Safe Return. Then he flips his
other monster a Nimble Momonga
(Nimble), which he attacks to my face down Des
Lacooda
and I activate Waboku to
save it, but putting it face up, then he sets a S/T and
ends.
I draw V. Lord and flip Des Lacooda
down and then up to draw again and get a Book of Life.
I sacrifice Des Lacooda (he
did his job) for V. Lord and flip my Pyramid turtle into
attack
mode and attack his Merchant with V. lord, putting him
at 6200 and taking a spell down,
My Body as Shield. Then Pyramid Turtle attacks the
Nimble, and he gains 1000, now putting
him at 7000 and he special summons two more in defense
from his deck face down.
Then I end.
He draws and activates Card of Safe Return and then sets
a monster and sets a S/T. Then he
ends.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and summon Regenerating.
Regenerating and Pyramid Turtle attack
the two Nimble's, and he
gains 2000, now he's at 9000. V. Lord attacks his other
face down,
but he activates Call on one of his
Nimble's and I respond with Dust Tornado on the
Call,
destroying it and negating its effect. Magician of Faith
is flipped from the attack and he gets
the My body as Shield V. Lord put in his graveyard.
With 7 Cards in my hand I'm forced to
activate Swords, which he chains Magic Drain to and I
opt not to pay for it. Then I end.
He draws and activates Brain control, putting him down
to 8200 and he takes my V. Lord
and attacks my Regenerating with it and I take 200,
putting me to 7800 and he calls magic,
and I put in Confiscation. Then he sets one S/T then
ends and V. Lord returns to my side of
the field.
I draw Regenerating and with three Book of Life's in my
hand. I summon Reaper, which activates
his Torrential. Then I play Book of life three times to
get Reaper, Regenerating and Pyramid
Turtle, all in attack mode and removing two of his
Nimble's and a Magician of
faith. I attack
him with Regenerating and Pyramid Turtle, and he takes
the 3000, putting him at 5200, and
he activates rush recklessly on the Reaper when I attack
with it. Then I end.
Then he draws and sets a monster and a S/T and ends.
I draw Crossout and V. Lord
gets special summoned during my standby phase. I play
Crossout on his face down
monster and he activates his face down S/T, My Body as
Shield
by paying 1500, putting him at 3700 but protecting his
monster. Then I attack it with V. Lord,
and find a Reaper. Then I end my turn.
He draws and then ends.
I draw Snatch and summon Regenerating and play Snatch on
his Reaper and he concedes. I
guess Zombies and Zombies don't mix...if that even makes
sense.
Match #2
Duel #2
He opts to go first, and sets a S/T and one monster and
then ends.
I draw and have Sakuretsu
Armor, Morphing Jar, Bottomless, Magician of Faith,
Breaker,
and Confiscation. I summon Breaker and he takes out a
Sakuretsu armor, and his
attack
takes out a Nimble, he's now at 9000 and has two
Nimbles face down on his
field. I set the
Bottomless and play Confiscation, I'm at 7000 and pick
from Reaper, Nobleman, Rush
Recklessly, and V. Lord. I can deal with V. Lord with
the Bottomless I just put down, but that
Reaper will be annoying, so I pick it to go. Then I
end.
He draws he sacrifices one of his
Nimbles for V. Lord, which promptly falls into a
Bottomless
Trap Hole. Then he flips his other Nimble into attack
and activates Rush Recklessly on it and
attacks with Nimble to do 100 through my Breaker and I'm
at 6900 then he sets one S/T and
ends. Breaker went 1 for 3. Good for him.
I draw a Sakuretsu Armor and
set both Sakuretsu Armor's
in my hand and I also set Morphing
Jar since I know he has the
Crossout in hand. I'd rather force the activation
with something that
isn't helping me at the moment than when I really need
to set monsters. Then I end.
He draws and summons Pyramid Turtle then activates
Crossout out my Morphing Jar
and both
Sakuretsu Armor's take care
of both Pyramid Turtle and Nimble. He ends with only a
S/T on
his field, and nothing in his hand. The look on his
face when he played Crossout
on the one
card that could replenish his hand was priceless.
I draw Bottomless and set it and Magician of Faith and
end.
He draws then sets a monster and ends.
I draw another Bottomless and look at my graveyard to
discover Confiscation as my only
spell in there. So, I opt to pass with Magician of Faith
sitting and waiting confident
Crossout
won't be happening anytime soon.
He draws then flips a Merchant and dumps a V. Lord,
Pyramid Turtle, and Ryu
Kokki before
he gets a MST, which he uses on my Bottomless. Then he
sets a monster before he ends.
I draw and get Heavy, which I use on his one S/T, a
Sakuretsu Armor. I was just
trying to get
a decent Spell in the graveyard then I set the other
Bottomless in my hand and I end my turn.
Again Magician of Faith is just sitting there.
He draws and plays his newly draw Book of Life to remove
my Breaker and special summons
his V. Lord, which promptly falls into the same
Bottomless Trap Hole as his brother. A look
of disgust creeps across his face as history repeats
itself. He turns Merchant into defense and
then he ends his turn.
I draw my own V. Lord and flip my Magician of Faith
finally to get back Heavy. He winces
when he sees the Magician of Faith was what he was
afraid of attacking. Then I sacrifice her
for V. lord and attack his merchant. Then I end.
He draws and then sets one S/T then ends.
I draw Premature and then attack his face down, Pyramid
Turtle, which I thought would get a
Ryu
Kokki to overpower my V. Lord, but he gets
Patrician of Darkness. He said he only runs
one Ryu
Kokki and it's in the graveyard because of
Merchant. Then I end my turn with Heavy
and Premature in my hand.
He draws and summons Exiled Force and decides to suicide
the Patrician of Darkness into
V. Lord. And I take 1000 from Exile, I'm at 5900. Then
he ends with one S/T on his side
with Exiled Force and no cards in hand.
I draw Merchant and I play Heavy Storm on his My body as
Shield then I play Premature
on V. Lord, I'm at 5100 and I attack his Exiled Force
doing my first damage to him all game
putting him down to 8000. V. Lord takes another My Body
as Shield from his deck. Then I set
the Merchant and I end.
He draws and plays Dark Hole. Then ends with nothing in
hand or field.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and V. Lord gets special summoned
and I normal summon the Pyramid
Turtle and attack with both directly doing 3200 bringing
him down to 4800 and V. lord takes
out a Brain Control. And I end. Finally I'm doing
damage.
He draws and sets his only monster.
I draw Ryu
Kokki and sacrifice the
Pyramid Turtle for it and attack his face down monster
with V. lord and hit a Morphing Jar. With nothing in
either of our hands, we both draw five.
I get Controller, Reaper, Treeborn,
Call, and Mobius. I attack
directly with Ryu
Kokki and
put him to 2400 and I set the Call and Controller and
then end.
He draws and plays Heavy, then Snatch on my
Ryu
Kokki and attacks my V. Lord dong 400
to me, I'm at 4700 and he sacrifices
Ryu
Kokki for Patrician of Darkness then sets a S/T
and
then ends.
I draw Torrential and set the
Treeborn and the Torrential. Then I ended and he
activated Dust
Tornado on the Torrential at my end phase.
He draws and attacks my face down
Treeborn with Patrician of Darkness and then
ends.
I draw Dark Hole, and play it. Then summon Spirit Reaper
and attack him directly for 300
putting him at 2100 and take out Smashing from his hand
and I end
He draws and plays another Smashing on my Reaper and
summons his own Reaper and
attacks me with 300 putting me at 4400 and taking my
Mobius from my hand. Then he
ends.
I draw Ryu
Kokki and special the
Treeborn and sacrifice it
for Ryu
Kokki and attack his Attack
position Reaper for game.
Treeborn won that game for
me.
Match #3
Duel #1
This is the third match and I've heard about this guy.
He's a veteran, so I can expect a tough
duel. I wasn't sure what he was running, but I heard
there was a lot of Control from his
side. I flip the coin, but he calls it and opts to go
first. Already my luck is on the
low end.
He Draws his 6th card, and sets two spells or traps
(S/T) and summons D.D. Survivor and
ends.
I draw my 6th card and have Vampire Lord (V. Lord), Des
Lacooda, Confiscation,
Sakuretsu
Armor, Magical Merchant (Merchant), and a Pyramid
Turtle. I set Pyramid Turtle and
Sakuretsu Armor and end my
turn. He activates Dust Tornado on my
Sakuretsu Armor during
the end phase.
He draws and summons Don Zaloog
(Don) and activates Nobleman of
Crossout (Crossout)
from his hand on my face down Pyramid Turtle. He
attacks with both D.D. Survivor and Don.
Now I'm at 4800 and Don takes V. Lord from my hand and
he ends.
I draw Breaker the Magical Warrior (Breaker), which I
summon and use his effect on his one
S/T, a Sakuretsu Armor. I
attack Don with Breaker, doing 200 to him putting him at
7800.
I activate Confiscation on his two cards in hand taking
his Enemy Controller (Controller) over
Lightning Vortex (Vortex), which takes me down to 3800.
I end my turn.
He draws, and attacks my Breaker with D.D. Survivor
taking me to 3600. Then he sets
one S/T, and ends.
I draw another Pyramid Turtle, and set it then end.
He draws, and then attacks with D.D. Survivor to my face
down Pyramid Turtle and I pull
another V. Lord with its effect. He activates Swords of
Revealing Light (Swords) from his
hand and ends.
I draw Magician of Faith, but set the Merchant. Then I
end my turn with 1 turn on Swords.
He draws and then attacks my face down with the D.D.
Survivor, Merchant gets rid of
Morphing Jar and then gives me a Snatch Steal (Snatch).
He sets a monster and ends.
I draw Controller, which I set and then end with the
second turn of Swords being over.
He draws and ends.
I draw a Pyramid Turtle, which I set and end my turn.
Swords is gone at my end phase.
He draws and sacrifices his D.D. Survivor for
Airnight
Parshath (Airnight)
and attacks my face
down monster with it. I activate Controller to put
Airnight into defense. Then
he sets a S/T.
And with one card in his hand he ends his turn.
I draw Call of the Haunted (Call). My hand now has Des
Lacooda, Magician of Faith,
Snatch, and Call. I flip summon Pyramid Turtle, and then
Snatch his Airnight. I
attack with
Airnight to his face down
monster, a Spirit Reaper (Reaper) and he takes 1700, and
is now
at 6100. Airnight lets me
draw Heavy Storm (Heavy). His two set S/T's and my back
cleared
is tempting to use, but I opt to wait it out. Then I
end.
He draws, and gains 1000 from Snatch and is at 7100 now.
He summons Breaker and uses
his effect on the Snatch. His monster arrangement has
Airnight now on his side in
attack with
reaper in defense and Breaker in attack. He then
activates Book of Moon in hand on
V. Lord and attacks with Airnight
to him. I take 400 overflow, and am now at 3200. He
draws from Airnight, but
does not attack my Turtle in attack mode. He ends.
I draw Ryu
Kokki. Then I play Heavy on
his two S/T's. Vortex and Torrential Tribute
(Torrential) go to the graveyard. I Sacrifice my
Pyramid Turtle for Ryu
Kokki and attack his
Airnight, he's now at 6600.
I then set the Call and end.
He draws and sets one monster and puts Breaker to
defense with his Reaper. He ends with
one card in his hand.
I draw and activate a Book of life on one of my V. Lord
and remove his Airnight from
play.
I send V. Lord after his Breaker and
Ryu
Kokki attacks his face down monster,
D.D. Assailant, both getting removed. I have a Magician
of Faith along with that Des
Lacooda
in my hand. With Call down, I set the Magician of Faith
and end the turn with 3200 life points.
He draws and sets one monster then ends.
I draw Mobius the Frost
Monarch (Mobius). I flip
summon my Magician of Faith and get
back Controller. V. Lord attacks his face down monster,
a Magician of faith and he gets back
Swords of Revealing light. I
quickplay Controller from hand to destroy his
Reaper. Then
attack with magician of faith to do 300. He's now at
6300 and then I activate Call on my
other V. Lord and he takes 2000 with me calling magic,
he dumps Smashing Ground
(Smashing). He's now at 4300. I end my turn.
He draws and activates Reinforcement of the Army
(Reinforcement) and get's
Blade Night.
Then he activates Swords and summons the Blade Night and
attacks my Magician of Faith
and I take 1700 putting me down to 1500. He ends.
I draw Waboku and sacrifice
the V. Lord with the Call for
Mobius to destroy the Swords.
The Mobius attacks his Blade
Knight and he's now at 3900, then V. Lord attack goes
through
taking down another Smashing putting him down to 1900.
I set the Waboku and end.
He draws and sets one monster and ends.
I draw Bottomless Trap Hole (Bottomless). Then I attack
with Mobius to his face down
monster a D.D. Warrior Lady. He opts to remove both,
then V. Lord takes out his last 1900
for game. He showed me the one card in his hand a
Mystic Swordsman LV 2.
Match #3
Duel #2
Oddly enough he opts to let me go first. I usually
thought going first had some advantage, but
its looking like going second might be best.
I draw my sixth and have Breaker, Controller, Heavy,
Reaper, Dark Hole, and Crossout.
I
set the Reaper and the Controller and I end.
He draws and summons D.D. Assailant and attacks into my
reaper. Then he plays Smashing
on it, and sets two S/T's and ends.
I draw and get Book of life. Breaker, Heavy, Dark Hole,
Nobleman, and Book of Life are in
my hand, and I end. He activates Dust Tornado on the
Controller during my end phase. It's
what I get for trying to be too conservative with
activating Heavy.
He draws and summons D.D. Warrior Lady and attacks with
both. I'm now at 4800, and he
ends.
I draw Ryu
Kokki. Heavy and Dark Hole
immediately follow along with Book of life on my
spirit reaper, which removes his DD Warrior lady from
play. Reaper attacks with 300 taking
him down to 7700 and takes down a Breaker as well from
his hand. Leaving my opponent
with nothing in his hand, then I sacrifice it for
Ryu
Kokki with Crossout
and Breaker in hand,
I end.
He draws and set's a S/T and ends.
I draw Bottomless. Looking in his graveyard for
Torrential I don't find it. I need to even up
life points so I summon the breaker and pop his
facedown, a Widespread Ruin (Widespread)
. Then I attack with Ryu
Kokki and Breaker putting
him to 3700. I set the Bottomless and end.
He draws and plays a miracle Snatch, taking my
Ryu
Kokki and attacks the Breaker and I'm
now at 4000. Then he ends.
I draw Mobius and gain 1000,
now I'm at 5000. I end.
He draws and attacks me with my own
Ryu Kokki and I'm at
2600. Then he sets one S/T,
and ends.
I draw Regenerating Mummy (Regenerating) and gain 1000,
I'm now at 3600. I set the
Regenerating and ended.
He draws and summons Reaper and attacks with my
Ryu
Kokki and takes out the
Regenerating and his Reaper takes my
Crossout bringing me down to
3300. He ends.
I draw Des Lacooda and gain
1000 bringing me to 4300. I set the Des
Lacooda and end.
He draws and attacks with my Ryu
Kokki to my Des
Lacooda and Reaper brings me
down to 4000 and takes my Mobius.
Then he sets one S/T and ends.
I draw a Regenerating, gain 1000 and am at 5000. I
summon the Regenerating and attack the
Reaper and he takes 1500, he's now at 2200. I end and he
activates Dust Tornado at
my end phase on my Bottomless, my last line of defense.
He draws and immediately plays his freshly drawn
Smashing taking out my Regenerating
and attacks with Ryu
Kokki bringing me down to
2600. Then he put Reaper into defense
then ends.
I draw a Pyramid Turtle and gain 1000. Now I'm at 3600.
That Snatch is keeping me in this
game. I set the Pyramid Turtle and end.
He draws and summons his freshly drawn
Tsukuyomi and puts
Ryu
Kokki face down
destroying Snatch, then flips it face up and attacks my
only face down monster, and Turtle
gets me a spirit reaper stopping his attack in it
tracks. He ends and Tsukuyomi
goes back to
his hand.
I draw, Premature Burial (Premature). I pay for
Premature on Mobius and
suicide with the
Ryu
Kokki. I'm now at 2600 and he's at 2200. I end
with Reaper defending me.
He draws and summons Tsukuyomi,
putting my Reaper face down and then activates his
Creature Swap from hand and takes my face down spirit
reaper and I get his Tsukuyomi.
When he ends Tsukuyomi goes
back to his hand.
I draw V. Lord and end with a clear field.
He draws and summons Tsukuyomi,
which puts his Reaper face down and then flips both
Reapers into attack. Then he attacks me with all putting
me at 900 and V. Lord drops from
my hand. He sets a S/T and ends with
Tsukuyomi going back into
his hand. He must have
something good backing him up by putting those Reapers
in attack mode.
I draw Book of life and play it on my Reaper and
removing his only graveyard monster
D.D. Assailant. Ryu
Kokki could be hit with that
face down S/T, which is probably a
Bottomless. I went with the safer bet.
He draws, then laughs. Always a good sign. He flips his
face down S/T and reveals...Vortex,
which had been down for the longest time, apparently as
a bluff that actually came in to help
him win it. He laughed because of the fodder he used
for Vortex; the Reaper he just drew
now kills mine, leaving two more reapers still on his
side. Then he summons Tsukuyomi
putting a Reaper face down and attacks to finish me off.
He shows me a Bottomless he had
waiting for Ryu
Kokki, so the choice for
Reaper was solid. I was dead either way because
if Ryu
Kokki had attacked, it would have left him with
100 and Vortex would have taken him
out next turn regardless. I guess going second might be
better.
Match #3
Duel #3
For the deciding duel I decide to go first, even though
going second seems to have its
advantages. I draw and get Controller, Regenerating,
Heavy, Breaker, Morphing Jar,
and Bottomless. I summon
the Regenerating and set Controller then end turn.
He draws and special summons Cyber Dragon (Cyber) and
attacks my Regenerating with it,
but I put it into defense with Controller. Then he sets
one monster and one S/T then ends.
I draw Book of Life, and summon Breaker and he activates
his S/T Book of Moon on it.
I send Regenerating after his Cyber in defense and I
set the Bottomless and end my turn.
He draws, and then flips his face down monster D.D.
Warrior lady, which I activate
Bottomless on. He activates Reinforcements and gets D.D.
Assailant and summons it and
attacks my face down Breaker and then activates
Smashing to destroy my Regenerating then
ends his turn.
I draw and get a Mystical Space Typhoon (MST). I play
Book of Life on my Regenerating
also removing his Cyber and attack his D.D. Assailant
with it doing first damage bringing
him to 7900 and both monsters get removed from play. I
set the MST and the Morphing Jar.
Then I end my turn with Heavy in my hand hoping he
doesn't draw the monster to attack my
Morphing Jar with.
He draws and sets a monster then ends his turn.
I draw Book of Life, then I make the difficult decision
to set Heavy and the Book of life,
leaving no cards in my hand, then I flip Morphing Jar. I
did have card advantage, but couldn't
do anything with it, so I'm hoping the extra cards can
help me push on his life points a little
harder. Morphing Jar gets me
Sakuretsu Armor, Mobius,
Dark Hole, Sakuretsu Armor,
and
Regenerating. He discards Airnight
and Premature and draws five new cards also. I summon
the Regenerating and attack his face down monster a
spirit reaper. No real advantage gained,
but I may have just put him back in the game. I end.
He draws then tributes his Reaper for
Jinzo and attacks my
Morphing Jar for 1700, which
puts me at 6300. Then he plays Smashing on my
Regenerating and and sets a
S/T and ends.
I draw Sangan and activate
my face down Book of life removing his
Airnight to summon
Regenerating and sacrifice it for
Mobius destroying his S/T, a
Sakuretsu Armor and bump
heads with Jinzo. Then I set
a Sakuretsu armor of my own
and end.
He draws and sets one monster and a S/T then ends and I
activate MST on his S/T a Dust
Tornado.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and set it and end.
He draws and flip summons his magician of faith and gets
back Premature and pays 800 to
get Jinzo. He's at 7100 and
then he sacrifices the Magician of Faith for
Mobius destroying
my set Heavy and Sakuretsu
armor. He attacks with Jinzo
to my face down monster,
Pyramid Turtle, which gets Reaper effectively making his
big move mute. Then he ends.
I draw another Reaper and my Dark Hole hits the field,
destroying my Reaper and his Jinzo
and Mobius. Then I summon
Reaper and attack directly with 300, and now he's down
to
6800 and Reaper picks from his remaining two cards in
his hand and hits a
Mystic Swordsman LV 2. Then I set
Sakuretsu Armor behind Reaper and end.
He draws and activates from his hand Reinforcement and
gets Don, which he summons and
attacks into my Sakuretsu
Armor. Then he sets one S/T and ends.
I draw a Pyramid Turtle and I summon
Sangan and attack with both
Sangan and Reaper for
1300, and he's now at 5500 and I end my turn.
He draws and sets a S/T and ends.
I'm wary of Torrential and don't want to activate it. So
I Attack with the 1300 again, now
he's at 2200. I end.
He draws and activates his just drawn Dark Hole.
Destroying my Spirit Reaper and
Sangan,
who fetches Pyramid Turtle for me. Then he ends.
I draw Des Lacooda and
summon Pyramid Turtle, with no response on his part.
Then I attack
bringing him down to 1000. Then I set the
Crossout as bait and end my
turn.
Then he draws and sets a S/T and ends.
I draw Merchant and attack with Pyramid Turtle for game,
but goats fill his field and I attack
one (3 goats left). Then I set the Des
Lacooda and end my turn.
He draws and activates his set
Crossout on my Des Lacooda
and sets another S/T and then
puts one of his goats into attack mode and activates his
other set card, Creature Swap and
I take his attack position goat and he takes my Pyramid
Turtle and he attacks my goat, and
I take it putting me at 5100. Usually playing Creature
Swap on my Pyramid Turtle has been
my doing, but this was interesting. I was hoping to draw
another monster with enough attack
to take it out and get a free special summon. With only
two goats, my Pyramid Turtle and
one S/T on his side he ends.
I draw Magician of Faith and set it, but when I end and
he activates his Dust Tornado on my
Crossout bluff.
He draws and puts the Pyramid Turtle in defense and sets
one S/T and ends.
I draw Call and flip Magician of Faith to get MST, which
I use on his only set S/T, a
Heavy. Then I normal summon Merchant and activate Snatch
on my Pyramid Turtle
and put it into attack mode. Then I attacked with the
Magician of Faith and Merchant to
the last two goats and with only 1000 life points left
Pyramid Turtle finishes the game.
Match #4
Duel #1
The last match, and I'm nervous. I flip and win the coin
toss, finally. Maybe not a good sign,
but I still opt to go first. He's running the
Treeborn-Monarch/Draw Power
deck, or so I heard.
I have MST, Ryu
Kokki, Controller, Call,
Bottomless, and V. Lord. I set the Bottomless
and end. Not looking to be a great start.
He draws and summons Breaker, and I activate Bottomless.
Then he sets one S/T and
then ends.
I draw Waboku and set it and
end.
He draws and sets one S/T and ends. The duel has just
begun and it looks like we're
already at a standstill.
I draw Treeborn and set it
and end, he activates Dust Tornado on my
Waboku at my
end phase.
He draws and ends his turn with only a S/T on his field.
I draw Reaper and use MST on his S/T, a
Sakuretsu armor, and I
summon the Reaper
and attack direct for 300, he's now at 7700 and takes
out a Sakuretsu Armor. I set
Controller then end.
He draws and plays Snatch on my Reaper. Then he sets one
monster and ends.
I draw and sacrifice my Treeborn
for V. lord. Then attack his face down monster, another
Treeborn. I end.
He draws and special summons
Treeborn in defense and ends his turn.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and summon it and attack his
Treeborn with Pyramid Turtle
and
V. Lord attacks him directly, he's now at 5700 and V.
lord takes a trap,
Return from a Different Dimension (Return). Then I end.
He draws and special summons
Treeborn in defense and sets one S/T and ends.
I draw Pyramid Turtle and attack his
Treeborn with the Pyramid
Turtle on the field, which
activates his Sakuretsu
Armor and I attack the Treeborn
with V lord, out of spite. And set
the Pyramid Turtle I just drew. Then I end.
He draws and plays MST, during his draw phase on my
Controller then he special summons
Treeborn and sacrifices it
for Airnight and attacks my
face down monster, the Pyramid Turtle,
putting me at 7500 and he draws, then Pyramid Turtle
gets me Des Lacooda, he
sighs at that
before ending.
I draw Book of Life, then special
Treeborn. Then I flip Des
Lacooda down and then up
drawing again, a Breaker. With little to stop me I'm
going to go for some serious damage
this turn. I play Book of Life to remove his
Treeborn for my Pyramid
Turtle and then I activate
Premature on my other Pyramid Turtle, putting me at
6700. Then I sacrifice the Treeborn
for the Ryu
Kokki in my hand. I attack
the Airnight with
Ryu
Kokki then Des Lacooda,
both Pyramid Turtles and Vampire Lord take him down to
300 along with a Brain Control from
his deck. I end.
He draws and plays Heavy on my Premature, destroying one
of my Pyramid Turtles. Then he
sets two S/T's and a monster and ends. I've got to give
it to him, he's fighting with 300 left
where others would have scooped. I definitely respect
this guy for staying in the game.
I draw Regenerating, and opt not to get back
Treeborn, because I don't
want to set of
Torrential. I don't get Des Lacooda
either, for the same reason. I attack his Face down
monster with Ryu
Kokki, a
Sangan, which gets him DD
Warrior Lady. Then I attack with
Des Lacooda with 500 for
game and he activates Return and gets back
Treeborn and
Breaker, putting him at a mere 150 life points. I don't
attack, and just put Des Lacooda
down.
When I end his Treeborn and
Breaker get removed from play.
He draws and plays one of the most amazing turns I've
ever seen. He special summons Cyber,
then a Chaos Sorcerer by removing his
Airnight and
Sangan and removes my
Ryu
Kokki
with its effect. Then he normal summons D.D. Warrior
Lady and attacks my Des Lacooda
with Cyber. Then D.D. Warrior attacks my Pyramid Turtle
and removes both leaving me with
6400. V. Lord stands alone on my side of the field when
he ends. He made excellent
choices as far as use of effects and attacking order. He
had me against the ropes with
that move.
I draw Bottomless and special summon
Treeborn in defense and I
put V. Lord into defense
and set my Call and the Regenerating and the Bottomless,
sparing no card against this
duelist. Then I end.
He draws then removes my Treeborn
with his Chaos Sorcerer and attacks my V. Lord with
Cyber. Then he ends.
I draw Dark Hole and summon Breaker to destroy his face
down S/T, Book of Moon,
which puts my Breaker face down, then I play Dark hole
to clear the field and Call on
Des Lacooda. His 500
attacking directly is enough to take him out. I won by
shear card
advantage, but he played an excellent duel and I'm not
too sure I can follow up with an easy
win.
Match #4
Duel #2
He chooses to go first. He sets one monster and ends.
I draw and have Snatch, Reaper, Book of life,
Ryu
Kokki, Torrential, and Book of Life. I set
the Reaper and the Torrential and end.
He draws then flips his monster face up, a
Dekoichi the
Battlechanted Locomotive (Dekoichi),
and he draws again then thinks for a while then and
sacrifices his Dekoichi for
Airnight, which
I activate Torrential to. Then he sets one S/T and
ends.
I draw Magician of Faith and activate Book of Life on my
Spirit reaper in attack and remove
his Airnight then attack
with it directly with 300 bringing him to 7700 and
hitting a Crossout.
Then I set the Magician of Faith and end.
He draws then sets a monster and ends.
I draw Confiscation and use it, now I'm at 7000 and I
see his hand of D.D. Warrior Lady,
Merchant, Reaper, and Dark Magician of Chaos. I see my
Snatch in hand so I can take
care of the Reaper and I go for the Merchant since it
can replenish his hand. I flip the
Magician of Faith and get back Confiscation and
sacrifices it for Ryu
Kokki. Hoping for the
attack to go through and killing his hand I send
Ryu
Kokki to attack his face down monster,
a Gravekeeper's Spy, which
searches for another. Then I put the Reaper into defense
and
after a little thinking activate the Confiscation again
putting me at 6000 and out of
D.D. Warrior Lady, Reaper, and Dark Magician of Chaos I
pick the D.D. Warrior Lady,
since she can take out my powerhouse. He won't be
summoning Dark Magician of Chaos anytime
soon, or so I thought. I then end.
He draws and sets a monster and a S/T to match his other
S/T and ends.
I draw a Waboku I send
Ryu
Kokki to attack his Spy. Then I set the
Waboku and end.
He activates his S/T that's been sitting a while, a Dust
Tornado on my Waboku during
my
end phase. I should have attacked my Reaper to what was
certainly his and then Snatch it,
but I figured I could wait it out.
He draws and activates Brain Control, paying 800 to take
my Ryu
Kokki. He's now at
6900. He sacrifices both my Ryu
Kokki and his face down
Reaper to get
Dark Magician of Chaos, which gets him back Brain
Control, which he activates again on
my Reaper, he's at 6100 and my Reaper is destroyed.
Then he activates his face down S/T,
Call and gets back Airnight
and attacks me with both bringing me down to 1300 and he
draws a card and sets one S/T and ends. By letting up in
the last play by me not attacking to
his Reaper with mine he was able to gain footing enough
to turn the entire
duel around. I’ve got to stop underestimating my
opponent.
I draw a miracle Heavy, which I activate destroying his
Airnight and face down
Bottomless Trap Hole. I play Snatch on his Dark Magician
of Chaos and I play Book of Life
to get back Ryu
Kokki and remove his
Airnight and I attack with
both dealing 5200 damage
to him leaving him with 900 left. I end with no cards
in my hand, but none in his.
He draws and gains 1000 from Snatch putting him at 1900
and sets one S/T and ends.
I draw, Bottomless and I attack with
Ryu
Kokki and he activates Return putting him at 950
and special summons the Airnight
I removed in defense mode, which recalls my attack and
Dark Magician of Chaos puts him back into the different
dimension and Ryu
Kokki ends the
game. A very close game. That Heavy was a miracle draw.
I like how he didn't surrender on
his last draw of Return. The simple fact that he didn't
surrender says that his card could keep
him in the game (even if it can't, it's enough for a
bluff), which has kept me in a few games.
Props
-To the last guy I faced who's determination kept me
sharp.
-Reaper and Treeborn for
changing the game.
-$20 store credit "in the bank"
Slops
-Having a bad luck coin.
-Not player the harder players.
-Losing to the Naruto
