I was pretty excited for a win today. This was my last tournament here before leaving for college, so I wanted to have some fun. Before the tournament started, I bought a box of TAEV and pulled a Seer and a Rainbow Dragon, among other things. I managed to sell the Dragon for $50.

After all that, Bill put us in 2 round robin groups of 6 players each. The top 3 from each group would make the cut to top 6.

Round 1
Blake vs. Wally Higgins (Machines)

Game 1: He didn't expect Spies.

Game 2: He outdrew me.

Game 3: I just destroyed him, I guess.

2-1

Round 2
Blake vs. Eddie (toolbox?)

Game 1: He's bad, so I won.

Game 2: See game 1.

4-1

Round 3
Blake vs. Sean (Vehicroid.dek)

Game 1: He set 2 face-down m/t's early, but they turned out to be bluffs. I attacked through them lots to win.

Game 2: He outdrew me.

Game 3: I kinda sacked him with Card Trooper and Machine Duplication.

6-2

Round 4
Blake vs. David Valle (Machines)

Game 1: This game was pretty even the whole time as far as card advantage was concerned, but I just kept up the pressure on his life points until he ran out of options.

Game 2: I sacked the crap outta him.

8-2

Round 5
Blake vs. Enrique Mancera (Dragons)

Game 1: He got out Five-Headed Dragon with Future Fusion, but I had MST down.

Game 2: I used 2 straight Raizas to keep his field clear and hit his life points early. He couldn't come back.

10-2 (1st in group; bye into top 4)

Semifinals
Blake vs. Wally

Game 1: He outdrew me.

Game 2: I'm at 3700 to his 3600. I have Raiza, and he has an empty field. I know he has Brain from an earlier Dustshoot that I used, and I know he has Cyber Phoenix because I Raiza'd it. Little did I know he also had Jinzo and Limiter in hand for game. =/

10-4

So I got a couple TAEV packs as a prize and pulled nothing. Wally got only a few dollars store credit for first, which he spent on packs that yielded nothing.

After saying good-bye to some of my friends at this tournament whom I might never see again, I left the store. Maybe I'll come back and visit some day.

Props

To all my friends from this tournament, some of whom quit YGO a while ago.
To Bill for hosting this tournament all these years. Thanks for the memories.

No slops.

Please e-mail me if you know of a local tournament in the St. Louis area that I could go to.
