KONAMI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT, INC SHOWS ITS HAND AT TOY FAIR
Top-Selling Trading Card Game Products to be Showcased
El Segundo, Calif. (February 10, 2010) –
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) announced today
plans to feature their Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG)
products at this month’s American International Toy Fair in
New York City. KDE will introduce their 2010 product line at
Booth #5627, Level 1 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center.
“We are confident that this year’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD
GAME offering is strong. With a mix of releases to excite
our retail partners, strong cards to satisfy our avid
fanbase, and entry-level products to welcome new Duelists,
we are poised for a successful year,” said Yumi Hoashi, Vice
President, Card Business for Konami Digital Entertainment,
Inc.
The cornerstone of KDE’s card business, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
was recently entered into the
Guinness World RecordsTM as the best-selling
trading card game of all time, with more than 22 billion
cards sold worldwide.
Releasing February 16, the new Absolute Powerforce
booster packs (MSRP: $3.99) set the stage for the first half
of the year. The skies clash with the sounds of epic battle,
as Absolute Powerforce brings Duelists everywhere the
ultimate monsters featured in the climax of the Dark
Signers’ storyline from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated series.
Five unbelievable Synchro Monsters anchor this 100-card set,
including new trump cards used by TV characters Yusei and
Jack, as well as the amazing new Dragons of arch-villain Rex
Goodwin. Absolute Powerforce also includes 10 World
Premiere cards never before seen on Earth, plus 10 Bonus
Cards previously available as promotional cards only in
Japan. Additionally, coming in late March, the Absolute
Powerforce Special Edition is a great value at $9.99 by
combining three Absolute Powerforce booster packs
with one of two variant cards.
On the heels of Absolute Powerforce is the
ready-to-play Machina Mayhem Structure Deck.
This 40-card playable Deck (plus 3 synchro monster cards for
the extra Deck – 43 cards total) will be available late
February with a $9.99 MSRP. Machina Mayhem includes
11 brand-new cards, and gives Duelists the tools they need
to Summon awesome engines of destruction. Structure Decks
like Machina Mayhem are perfect for Duelists who know
the basic rules, but are looking for a launching point to
build a competitive Deck for tournament use. Machina
Mayhem has everything a Duelist needs to start down that
road, including Deck, full rulebook, deluxe Game Mat, and
Dueling Guide with tips on how to power up the Deck even
more.
Perfect for Duelists looking to add popular cards to their
Decks, the brand new 2010 version of the Duelist Pack
Collection Tin contains 3 packs of Duelist Pack –
Yusei 2 – plus 1 pack of Ancient Prophecy. Each
Tin also has a special 3-card all-foil pack with 3 of
Yusei’s favorite cards from the animated series. (There are
3 different Yusei promo packs, each available through
different retail partners.) Also, as a special bonus, this
Tin introduces Yusei’s amazing “Starlight Road” Trap Card,
an unbelievable card that provides ultimate defense, and
lets the owner counter-attack with their “Stardust Dragon”
monster. One of the most anticipated Trap Cards in years,
Duelists everywhere will be sure to want at least one of
these cards – possibly two, three, or even more! Available
for $9.99 MSRP, the Tins will be on sale in early March.
Rounding-out KDE’s plans for the first half of 2010 are
Duelist Pack – Kaiba – releasing in April for $1.99 per
pack, The Shining Darkness booster set in May, a new
Starter Deck to release in early June, and in July
the 60-card Hidden Arsenal 2 set, with double the
cards of the extremely popular Hidden Arsenal, which
released in 2009. More exciting releases will be announced
in the future for the second half of 2010.
