KONAMI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT, INC. ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEWS
ABOUT NORTH AMERICAN 2011
Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER
EL SEGUNDO, CA. – (September 15, 2010) –
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami) is excited to
announce changes to its global Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME
(TCG) World Championship Qualifiers for North America.
Konami has chosen to increase the number of North American
participants at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship, by
merging the United States and Canadian National
Championships into a single North American World
Championship Qualifier, which will award six seats at the
World Championship.
“With the new changes, we will be sending six North
Americans to Duel at the highest, most prestigious level of
Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG competition, instead of one Canadian and four
American Champions,” commented Yumi Hoashi, vice president
of Card Business for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.
“Each of the Duelists can now tell their peers that they are
representing all of North America while facing more
challengers to reach the 2011 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME
World Championship.”
Under the new format, the North American Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World
Championship Qualifier will be held in a city accessible to
both countries to give as many Duelists as possible the
chance to compete at the invitation-only extravaganza.
Konami is dedicated to continue improving upon the gaming
experience for all Duelists, from the newest Duelists who
are just starting out, to the veteran players who have been
competing since the North American release of the Yu-Gi-Oh!
TCG in 2002. Duelists who are looking for a challenge can
find excitement at their local Official Tournament Store, as
well as at premier events such as the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship
Series, Regional Championships, World Championship
Qualifiers and the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship.
