COURTNEY WALLER COLLECTS THE TROPHY AT THE FINAL Yu-Gi-Oh!
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES OF 2011
El Segundo, CA (November 22, 2011) –
With visions of winning it all, hundreds of optimistic
Duelists came to Kansas City, Missouri this past weekend
pursuing champion-size dreams at the final Yu-Gi-Oh!
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) of 2011. Ultimately it was
Courtney Waller from Norfolk, Virginia that made his dream
come true as he was crowned Champion at the premier-level
Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) event, hosted by Konami
Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami).
With a packed playing field of nearly 650 participants,
Saturday morning saw anxious Duelists from across the
country awaiting the start of the First Round. It was
anyone’s game to win, and confidence levels in the building
were high. After Saturday’s Preliminary Rounds dashed the
hopes of some, 24-year-old Waller was still confident that
he would reach Sunday’s Final Round. That attitude combined
with smart and strategic play, earned Waller a spot at the
Final Round table. Pitted against a coolheaded 19-year-old
Chris Biswell from Lenexa, Kansas the stakes were high as
the crowd converged to watch the two Duelists battle it out
for the ultimate win.
Relying on his Chaos Deck, Waller’s skills proved to be too
much for Biswell and his Synchro-heavy
Deck. In addition to the title of Champion, Waller earned an
amazing set of prizes that included an Ultra Rare YCS
Blood Mefist Prize Card, an exclusive YCS Game Mat, an
invitation to the 2012 World Championship Qualifier
tournament and much more!
