JUAREZ, MEXICO TO HOST Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME CENTRAL AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP JUNE 16^th – 17^th

El Segundo, CA (June 8, 2012) – Duelists from across Mexico and the other Central American countries will descend upon Juarez, Mexico to play in Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.’s (Konami) Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Central American Continental World Championship Qualifier (WCQ). Juarez is known as the “gateway to Mexico” and will serve as the gateway to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship. The top finisher at this tournament will represent Central America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship in Tokyo, Japan.  In addition, there will be a last chance qualifier for the main and Dragon Duel events on Friday, June 15^th.

For Duelists, the event at Expo Reforma in Juarez will be the culmination of a thrilling and hard-fought year of competition, as many will vie for the right to attend the World Championship, but only one will move on.

Duelists will showcase their strategies and refined Decks all weekend, as the elite players in the Central American region play for the grand prize of an expense-paid trip to Japan to face off against the finest Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG players in the world. The quest starts for players with Round One on Saturday but only one player will emerge victorious after the Final Round Sunday. The winner goes to Tokyo, Japan for the World Championship August 11-12, the highest profile Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event of the year.

Younger Duelists (born 1999 or later) will be featured in their own two-day tournament, the Central American Dragon Duel Championship, taking place the same weekend and location as the Central American WCQ. This is the first time that Dragon Duelists will have their own Championship to compete for a trip to Tokyo, Japan for the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship.  The top young talent in the game will be on display as these Duelists strive to be the first ever Dragon Duel World Champion.

Duelists can also participate in a wide variety of fun and challenging Public Events to push their Dueling skills to the limit! Konami will be conducting a host of events such as Regional Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Win-A-Mats, Classic Drafts, Retro Drafts, and the newest Sealed Pack Tournaments for Battle Pack: Epic Dawn featuring exclusive Starfoil prize cards only available at premier events. 

Central American WCQ Prize Information:

• The Top 4 players will receive a Championship Trophy
• The Top 16 players will receive a Super Rare Blood Mefist – Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) Prize Card
• The Top Cut (depending on attendance) will receive a WCQ Top Cut Game Mat
• All participants will receive a 2012 WCQ Game Mat and a pack of 2012 WCQ Sleeves.

1st place – Invite to World Championship with travel and accommodations, Complete Set of Galactic Overlord, Super Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card, 64GB Tablet PC

2nd place – 32 GB Touch Screen MP3 Player, Complete Set of Order of Chaos and Galactic Overlord, and a Super Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card

3rd & 4th place – Complete Set of Order of Chaos and Galactic Overlord and a Super Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card

5th – 8th place – Complete Set of Galactic Overlord

9th – 16th place – 6 Booster Packs each of Generation Force, Photon Shockwave, Order of Chaos, and Galactic Overlord

Central American Dragon Duel Championship Prize Information:

All Dragon Duel Championship participants will receive a 2012 Dragon Duel WCQ Game Mat and a pack of 2012 WCQ sleeves. Additionally, the top Duelists (depending on attendance) will receive a Dragon Duel WCQ Top Cut Game Mat.
