Episode Summary
65: Mime Control, Part 1
by: klaas mallie
While Joey celebrates his
victory over Weevil and the new addition to his
Deck Insect Queen, and Yami Bakura visits the Domino Museum,
Mariks servant
Strings is searching for the Pharaoh to duel for his
Millenium Puzzle.
Yami accepts and Marik reveals that he has one of his two
Egyptian God
Cards in his Deck, which Yami will win, if he can win.
Marik goes first, summoning Humanoid Slime (4/800/2000) in
attack mode,
and setting a card facedown. Thinking that Marik is luring
him into
attacking, Yami decides not to attack and makes the same
move by playing
a card facedown and summoning Gazelle, the King of Mythical
Beasts
(4/1500/1200), also in attack mode (his defense is shown as
2100).
Marik calls the Pharaoh a fool, because his set card isn't a
Trap and
summons the reptile Worm Drake (4/1400/1500), then fusing it
with the
Slime by Polymerization (but the card you see is De-Fusion),
to form
Humanoid Worm Drake (7/2200/2000). Yami says that, according
to the
Battle City rules, Fusion monsters must wait one turn before
they can
attack, but Marik reveals his set card to be Quick Attack,
which means
that the Worm Drake can attack in this turn. Marik attacks.
But Yami was prepared for this move, and activates De-Fusion
to tear
Humanoid Worm Drake apart in the monsters that were used to
form him.
(The real De-Fusion works on a Fusion Monster of your
choice, but you
can only Special Summon the Fusion-parts if they are in your
Graveyard,
not in the opponent's.) With Mariks turn over, Yami draws
Buster Blader,
but he holds off playing it (which he couldn't by the way,
Buster Blader
needs two tributes to summon it), instead summoning Beta the
Magnet
Warrior (4/1700/1600). Marik loses both his monsters in the
next attacks,
and his Lifepoints lower to 3000.
Mariks congratulates the Pharaoh, by seeing through his real
plan, but
he was only testing his skills. Now, they will go over to
round two.
Marik summons Revival Jam (4/1500/500) in defense position
and activates
the Jam Breeding Machine, which will create a Slime Token in
each of
his turns. Knowing that Marik is using the Breeding Machine
to make
three Slime Tokens, so that he can summon his Egyptian God
Card, Yami
decides to destroy them before that can happen. He
sacrifices Gazelle
and Beta for Buster Blader (7/2600/2300), and attacks
Revival Jam,
destroying it. But after the attack, the Jam reforms and
Marik explains
that Revival Jam is immortal, so the Pharaoh can't touch
Mariks
Lifepoints.
(In the real game, you can choose to revive Revival Jam when
it's
destroyed in battle, but it costs 1000 Lifepoints each time.
If it
had no cost, Revival Jam would see much more play.)
Mariks turn begins and the Machine breeds the first Token
(4/500/0).
But Yami says that each Slime Token is summoned in attack
mode, so
when Buster Blader destroys them each turn, Marik will lose
the duel
in two turns. Mariks tells the Pharaoh not to count on it,
and he sets
a card facedown. Yami has no choice but to attack the Slime
Token, which
he does, but Marik has expected this move and activates the
Jam Defender,
and the attack is shifted to Revival Jam, which is destroyed
and
reformed. Marik says that Jam Defender is a permanent Trap,
so the
Pharaoh won't touch neither his Slime Tokens, nor his
Lifepoints.
In Mariks turn, a second Slime Token appears and Marik
activates
the Nightmare Steel Cage to prevent Yami and himself from
attacking
for two turns (Swords of Revaling Light is better). In his
next turn,
Marik says, this duel will be over!
