Jaden is rushing to Duel Academy while realizing he's a
little late. He runs until he bumps into Yugi, who hands
Jaden a Winged Kuriboh because Yugi thinks that it will
come in hand for Jaden while at Duel Academy.
When Jaden arrives at Duel Academy, he is the last one
to sign up. Before his entry duel he meets Cyrus and
Bastion, both of which have passed their entry duels.
The PA calls for Jaden to start his practice duel, but
his opponent happens to be Dr. Vellian Crowler (a man
who tried to keep Jaden from having his entry duel due
to Jaden's tardiness).
The duelists introduce themselves and then begin their
duel with Crowler's turn who plays Confiscation to look
at Jaden's hand and forces him to discard Monster
Reborn. It is now Jaden's turn. He summons an Elemental
Hero Avian in defense mode and then puts a card face
down. Things seem to be going Jaden's way until Crowler
sets two face down cards and plays Heavy Storm. While
Jaden's face down card gets destroyed, he points out
that the two cards Crowler had set will also get
destroyed. Crowler tells Jaden that his face down cards
were Statue of the Wicked, which trigger their effects
when destroyed, and summons two Wicked tokens which he
sacrifices to play Ancient Gear Golem.
Jaden is on the defensive end but doesn't give up. In
fact, he says that he has always wanted to face the
Ancient Gear Golem, which then attacks Jaden's Avian and
deals 2000 damage due to Avian's 1000 defense. It's
Jaden's turn and he draws the Winged Kuriboh that Yugi
gave to Jaden. Somehow Jaden can communicate with Winged
Kuriboh and decides to play it in defense mode while
setting a card face down. Crowler draws a card only to
have his Golem attack Winged Kuriboh. Jaden confidently
points out that he doesn't take damage due to Winged
Kuriboh's effect. He then activates the Hero Signal he
placed face down to summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix
from his deck.
Jaden's turn comes around which he then uses to play The
Warrior Returning Alive which brings Avian back to his
hand. He then plays Polymerization to fuse his
Burstinatrix and Avian to create the Elemental Hero
Flame Wingman. Crowler is somewhat impressed with
Jaden's move, but points out that Wingman's ATK points
aren't high enough. Jaden then plays Skyscraper and has
his Wingman attack Crowler's Golem. Jaden wins his
practice duel and has a small talk with his Winged
Kuriboh as the rest of the students applaud Jaden's
performance. - HevyMtalKing
