GX Episode Summary
3. A Duel in Love
by HevyMtalKing
The show begins in class where Dr. Crowler is teaching the
students about different types of spell cards. Alexis
brilliantly states the different types of spells which
brings a smile to Crowler's face (mainly because Alexis is
from the Obelisk Blue dorms). Crowler then asks the class
what a field spell does and immediately points to Cyrus to
answer the question. Cyrus then becomes nervous as Crowler
does everything he can to embarrass him, but then Jaden
states that Crowler shouldn't be making fun of the Slifer
dorm. Jaden then recalls his practice duel against Crowler
and how he lost to a Slifer red.
This makes Crowler so mad, he'll do anything to get Jaden
expelled from Duel Academy. While the students are in gym
class, Crowler sneaks a fake love letter from Alexis in
Cyrus's locker (only because Jaden's stuff is in there).
Cyrus is the first to find the letter and immediately starts
to daydream about himself with Alexis.
Later that night, Cyrus uses a boat to travel to the Obelisk
girls' dorm to meet Alexis only to get caught. Crowler, in
camouflage, thinks that it was himself that was discovered
and jumps into the lake behind him. Alexis and her friends
ask Cyrus to explain himself before Cyrus hands them the
love letter he found. Of course, the girls point out that
the letter was made to Jaden Yuki. The girls hear their
teacher coming and quickly hide Cyrus under Alexis's
friends. They were able to get away with hiding Cyrus, but
Alexis decides to use him as bait to lure Jaden into dueling
with her.
Meanwhile, Jaden returns from the outhouse only to have Chum
Li tell Jaden that Cyrus is gone. Jaden's handheld
communication device then recieves a message from a
well-disguised voice telling him that they have Cyrus over
at the girls' dorm. Jaden immediately takes a boat and heads
off to retrieve Cyrus. Crowler (who's floating in the lake
at the moment) sees Jaden heading towards the girls' dorm
using another boat.
Jaden arrives only to find out that he's trespassing as well
as Cyrus. Alexis will pardon them if Jaden can beat her in a
duel. Jaden agrees to the terms and both players start their
duel. Alexis starts the duel off with Etoile Cyber and a
card face down. Jaden then plays his Elemental Hero Sparkman
in attack mode and has him attack Etoile Cyber only for
Alexis to reveal her Doable Passe trap card which forces
Sparkman to attack her directly, but then her Etoile Cyber
gets to attack Jaden directly as a result. Also, Etoile's
special ability increases its ATK points by 500 whenever it
makes a direct attack. Alexis begins her turn and fuses
Blade Skater with Polymerization to create her Cyber Blader.
She then orders her fusion monster to destroy Jaden's
Sparkman.
Jaden draws for his next turn and uses Polymerization to
bring out his Elemental Hero Flame Wingman. He then plays
Kishido Spirit so that his monster wouldn't be destroyed in
battle with a monster that had equal ATK points. The two
monsters battle only so that Jaden could discover that Cyber
Blader's ability makes it so that Blader cannot be destroyed
as a result of battle as long as Jaden controls only one
monster. Jaden ends his turn. Alexis then plays Fusion
Weapon which will increase Blader's ATK points from 2100 to
3600. She then attacks Jaden's Flame Wingman only to leave
Jaden with 200 LP. Jaden then plays The Warrior Returning
Alive to bring Sparkman back to his hand and uses Fusion
Gate to fuse Sparkman with Clayman in order to bring out
Elemental Hero Thunder Giant. Alexis doesn't seem impressed
due to the fact that Thunder Giant's ATK points are still
lower than her Cyber Blader's. Jaden then states that
Thunder Giant's special ability destroys a monster whose
original ATK points were lower than his own. Thunder Giant
then attacks Alexis directly to end the duel in Jaden's
favor.
Even though Jaden won the duel, one of Alexis's friends
thinks that they should still be turned in. Alexis then
tells her that they have to agree to the terms of the duel.
Jaden and Cyrus then head home on boat.
