Deck Fix: Dark Paladin Deck
June 24, 2005

Hey readers! Here's my 3rd, yes 3rd bit of material for you this week. Another thing I'm trying to do, is get teams names out there. Sure, Metagame.com does it, but why can't I? Haha! So after this fix you'll have a team. I'll explain what you can do to be shown in my column towards the end of the article. We're fixing a Dark Paladin deck sent in by......none other than Pojo's Dark Paladin himself! Amazing. So, a word of wisdom, although Dark Paladin is a Spellcaster, touche', on the contrary this is more Fusion based unlike yesterday's fix. Now...onto the fixing.

Josh,

Hey, it's Dark Paladin again. Just for chuckles, here is my deck which is a
hardcore dedicated Dark Magician deck which I'm constantly tweaking. I
actually have pretty good success with it usually, let me know what you think.
(This wasn't for you to post, but you can feel free too if you wish, as it
doesn't necessarily need a fix, I'm just welcoming your comments...)

Monsters x19 Total

Special Summon x3

Dark Paladin x2
Black Luster Soldier--Envoy of the Beginning

Tribute x3

Dark Magician x2
Dark Magician of Chaos
(no Jinzo)

Non-Tribute x13

Magician of Faith
Apprentice Magician
King of the Swamp x2
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Skilled Dark Magician x3
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
Cyber Jar
Thebian Nightmare
Sangan
Reflect Boudner

Spells x17

Pot of Greed
Graceful Charity
Premature Burial
Dark Magic Attack
Diffusion Wave-Motion
Polymerization x2
Mystic Plasma Zone
Scapegoat
Big Bang Shot
Mage Power
Enemy Controller
Heavy Storm
Mystical Space Typhoon
Swords of Revealing Light
Card Destruction
United We Stand

Traps x5

Dust Tornado
Ceasefire
Mirror Force
Call of the Hanted
Waboku

The deck is a bit heavier on Spells and a bit Light on Traps but as I said it
does work pretty well. I'm also aware it's 41 cards, but meh...

Dark Paladin my boy, we have got a deck to fix! So let's go onto fixing this thing. I'm almost wanting to drop the Envoy...so I figure, I will, if you don't like it, just re-add him, but this is going to speed out Paladin faster than you know. = )

-1 Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning

-1 Reflect Bounder

+1 Magician of Faith/Old Vindictive Magician

+1 Apprentice Magician

Reasoning: You know I hate Chaos...and honestly, I have nothing against Bounder outside the fact he's going to hurt the speed of this deck.

-1 Theban Nightmare

-1 Skilled Dark Magician

+1 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer

+1 Morphing Jar

Reasoning: Theban Nightmare, I'm sure you know, is meh. He really isn't going to go off so dropping him is essential. 3 Skilled Darks feels like it could be too much for this new build, so we're cutting one. Kycoo adds to the force of the deck, giving it more solidity. Morphing Jar is almost necessity in the sense this deck NEEDS hand replenishment.

Outside of that, the line-up looks solid. Onto the Magics and Traps.

-1 Dark Magic Attak

-1 Diffusion Wave Motion

-1 Mystic Plasma Zone

+1 Scapegoat

+1 Metamorphosis

Reasoning: Dropping the uber-situational cards for the 40 card hot spot. In reality really, how many times do you find yourself ditching those cards for Graceful Charity, etc., probably a lot more than you'd like. Adding goats keeps field presense and Metamorphosis keeps the fusion idea running with the deck.

-1 Big Bang Shot

+1 Book of Moon

Reasoning: Big Bang Shot seems to just outfunction the deck, so dropping it seems to be more of a decent idea. Adding in Book of Moon adds some versatility, it can reset your Magician of Faith, or stop an attacker, its one of the more versatile cards out there, so running it is vital needless to say.

-1 Waboku

+1 Torrential Tribute

Reasoning: Ahh...this is just the better choice over Waboku. You can do more effective advantage with Torrential than you can with a  -1 advantage with Waboku. It takes skill to use, so learning the ins and outs of it is also essential, but in the end, it is VERY worthwhile.

Well Dark Paladin, I hope you enjoyed my fixes. They should speed your deck along much more faster than before, its also 40 cards now. So enjoy, onto my last bit on how to get your team put in one of my fixes:

1.) You MUST send it to my normal e-mail: ZombieRooster123@aol.com

2.) Send the team name, where you play, members names (nicknames are fine if you can't say your real name), why you feel your team is different than others, and most of all, what decktypes you play.

3.) DO NOT BASH decktypes, other teams, or people in your application sent to be shown, its disrespectful and rude. = )

4.) Have fun, make your email different than all others and remember, I'm not doing this for nothing, this is to get those underdog teams and teams who haven't been recognized out there and known, I enjoy this, and you all should too. = )

Now.....Team of the Fix is......TEAM KURIBOH! So onto my little paragraph about them (I've met them in person, and they inspired me to do this little addition to my column.

I'm going to introduce a team I met a few days ago while at my grandparent's house in Ohio (they live VERY close to an awesome cardshop). Team Kuriboh are a very dedicated group of guys that have a lot of heart. Now, normall I wouldn't go out on a limb to tell about a team, but these guys are a diamond in the rough. They're lead by Shawn Prater, and are all hitting the last chance Regionals in hope to qualify for Nationals. But what makes these guys so special? They all have so much team unity and heart as one of them plays a move. Of course, as you're reading you're thinking "Sure, my team has that!  What team doesn't?!". Well, most teams are out for the fame, these guys aren't. These duelists are the rare gold you find nowhere else. Should you want to ever meet them as I did, they're located at The Realm in Mansfield Ohio, expect these guys at Nationals, I know I will. = )

NOTE TO READERS-Sorry about earlier, I had the wrong idea with the Hex-Sealed, won't happen again. = )
