WiCkEd's Deck Garage With Commentary by: Ace of Spades and Notasperfectasyou (Napay)Hello Yugioh fans, and welcome to the inauguration column of Pojo Staff Duels! We’re your hosts, Ace of Spades and Napay, and we’ve got a great game for you tonight! Our very own WiCkEd has come out of his Deck Garage for a quick battle against our resident Dungeon Dice Monsters writer, TheDungeonMaster! Who will triumph in this battle? Let’s go down to the floor where the players are deciding who takes the first move. It will be chosen by way of rolling two six-side dice.
OnlineHost: WiCkEdLoVeR696 rolled 2 6-sided dice: 2 5 WiCkEd has a total of 7, beaten out by TheDungeonMaster’s 9.
WiCkEd: Looks like you decide Ace of Spades: TheDungeonMaster takes the first move, opening with Graceful Charity, drawing his three cards. He looks long and hard at his new hand and opts to send Bottomless Trap Hole and Call of the Haunted to the graveyard. He finishes by sending a particularly Berserk Gorilla to the field and setting a Magic or Trap card behind it. Napay: You gotta love drawing Graceful in the first turn. I hope he kept something really good. To bad he had to dump Call of the Haunted. Call really isn’t very useful so early in the game.
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: You know what this means, folks! TheDungeonMaster is not able to attack for the next three turns! This could mean trouble.
TheDungeonMaster: ok Napay: A lot of folks underestimate Tsukuyomi because it’s a Spirit and that makes it hard to establish field presence. But, here’s a great example of just what Tsukuyomi can do. How’s it looking to you Ace? Ace of Spades: This doesn’t bode well for TheDungeonMaster, as WiCkEd seems to have an early lead. Berserk Gorilla is helpless in face-down Defense mode with a paltry 1000 DEF to Tsukuyomi’s 1100. But what’s this? TheDungeonMaster flips over a Trap!
TheDungeonMaster: I'll use Sakuretsu Armor Ace of Spades: Horror of horrors! Sakuretsu Armor automatically destroys the attacking monster, in this case, Tsukuyomi! Napay: There are not very many cards that take down Sakuretsu Armor.
TheDungeonMaster : How many cards in your hand? Ace of Spades: TheDungeonMaster takes his turn and politely asks about the state of WiCkEd’s hand. 3 cards, eh? What does he have up his sleeve? Hopefully not an extra card, because we’d have to call for security. He instead wisely brings his Gorilla back. TheDungeonMaster: and I’ll throw down a D.D. Warrior Lady for kicksAce of Spades: No! A double-team against an open field! This could mean 3500 damage! Napay: This duel is really starting heat up! D.D. Warrior Lady can be one tough monster, I’m sure WiCkEd is going to want to get rid of it fast.
WiCkEd: I'll chain with Torrential Tribute Ace of Spades: Ha! A great wave sweeps over the field, drowning the two monsters! Sayonara! Napay: A lot of players consider Torrential a staple in their decks. When Dark Hole got banned from advanced play, a lot of duelists filled that deck slot with Torrential. That was a great move by WiCkEd.
WiCkEd: I draw Ace of Spades: WiCkEd takes the lead, bringing out the Asura Priest (one of the better Spirit monsters, of course) and smacks up TheDungeonMaster for 1700 damage. WICKED LP: 8000/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 6300
WiCkEd: End turn, Asura returns to my hand Ace of Spades: Asura Priest retreats like all Spirit monsters as TheDungeonMaster plays a straightforward turn, laying down a single Magic or Trap. It had better be something good, because he’s still open for another direct attack! Napay: Yeah Ace, TheDungeonMaster didn’t set or summon a monster during his turn. This might be a sign that he’s working with a monsterless arsenal right now. Do you think WiCkEd is going to jump on this?
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: WiCkEd takes his turn and sets up his Wave-Motion cannon! As you well know, when WiCkEd decides to destroy it, it’ll attack the opponent for 1000 damage for each turn it was out unchecked. Asura Priest returns to the field and smites for another 1700 damage! Napay: The Cannon can really hurt bad, especially if it’s well protected. TheDungeounMaster is going to have to get rid of it fast because those points build up fast and then …… BOOM! (Napay slams his hand on the table and spills a Mountain Dew all over Ace) Oh man, sorry about that. WICKED LP: 8000/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 4600 Ace of Spades: Asura Priest returns to the hand.
TheDungeonMaster: I'll summon Breaker Ace of Spades: Breaker descends onto the field and lowers his ATK to 1600 in exchange for ridding the field of the Wave Motion Cannon. With Swords on its last turn, Breaker still can’t attack, even with the tantalizingly open field. Napay: Breaker is one tough card to get. With Swords ending soon, TheDungeounMaster if going to need to get some offense going.
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: WiCkEd sets another card and brings back Asura Priest for the third time. It was not to be, as the second Torrential Tribute activates, sending the Priest to the graveyard. SWORDS ARE UP! Napay: TheDungeonMaster had to make a calculation to take out his Breaker that way. Breaker’s DEF is only 1000 and he was about to lose it to Asura Priest’s ATK of 1700! Since he was going to lose Breaker anyway, by playing Torrential, TheDungeonMaster took out WiCkEd’s Priest for good!
TheDungeonMaster: I'll summon Beserk Gorilla and attack Ace of Spades: TheDungeonMaster brings out another Gorilla and finally attacks. What’s this? Four tiny goats appear on the field! No damage this time, as the Gorilla ruthlessly kills the first Scapegoat. Napay: Looks like WiCkEd has stopped another offensive effort, this has got to be frustrating to TheDungeonMaster.
WiCkEd: Draw
TheDungeonMaster: ok, my move Ace of Spades: Wow! Quite an action-packed turn! The Nobleman of Crossout appears on the field and strikes down the set Dark Mimic Level 1. But he doesn’t stop there! Oh no, he destroys the other one inside the deck! TheDungeonMaster has no Dark Mimics of his own, so he is safe! Napay: Nobleman is one of the semi-restricted cards, meaning you can only have 2 of them in your deck. It’s got to be one of the best cards in the game for taking out set monsters. How about that summon Ace? Ace of Spades: Berserk Gorilla disappears to bring the frightful presence of Jinzo to the field! It’s an attention getting summon for sure. WiCkEd trembles slightly, for he knows his Traps are useless now! He can take solace in the fact that TheDungeonMaster cannot use any either. Jinzo then summons an electricity orb and electrocutes a second Goat, halving the Scapegoat forces. Napay: TheDungeonMaster seems to like Goat steak, looks like he’s getting a bottle of sauce ready for the other two. I think I saw DungeonMaster smile for the first time in the duel. Ace of Spades: I think so, it looks like quite a humorous exchange between the two. Seems WiCkEd likes his Goats. And how can you blame him? They’re so cute, and you can buy your own plush Scapegoat down in the Pojo Arena gift shop for only $15.99. Get ‘em while they’re hot!
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: WiCkEd draws two cards with his Pot [insert standard Pot of Greed joke here]. Apparently a fan of Pegasus’s, he then plays Metamorphosis, morphing one of his Goats into the grotesque Thousand-Eyes Restrict! He proceeds to suck up the Jinzo into it’s gaping maw, gaining the powers of the machine! He then attacks once more for 2400! Napay: Using Metamorphosis to make TER is one very solid move, not only did TheDungeonMaster lose his Jinzo, but now he can’t attack and the only monster on the field that can attack is WiCkEd’s TER. A well played Metamorphosis can really shift the advantage your way in Yugioh. Once again, just when TheDungeonMaster looked like he was starting to get something going, WiCkEd had a great response. WICKED LP: 8000/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 2200
TheDungeonMaster: I'll summon & use Exiled Force's effect Ace of Spades: It doesn’t look good for TheDungeonMaster, but wait! He brings a squad of Exiled Forces to the field and they promptly exile Thousand-Eyes Jinzo to the graveyard. TheDungeonMaster finishes off the turn by setting a M/T. Let’s see that again in slow motion! TheDunegonMaster: I’lllllll ssuuuummmmmooooonnnnn aaaaannnnnddddd uuuuussssse Eeeeeeexiiiiiiilllleeeeddddd Fooooorrrrccccceeeee’ssssssss eeeeeeefffffffeeeeeeeccccccttttttttt Ace of Spades: Wow! Napay: Aaamaaaaaazzzzzzzinggggggggg!
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: WiCkEd mimics TheDungeonMaster and throws down a face-down M/T and a face-down Monster, which is in turn mimicked by TheDungeonMaster. Napay: This could be trouble for TheDungeonMaster. Leaving a set monster untouched puts a player at risk of letting the opponent get the benefit of FLIP effects on their next turn.
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: Ingenious move! The Magician works her magic and returns Pot of Greed, which is used right away. Another card is set, and Ultimate Offering is flipped! For a measly 500 LP each, WiCkEd is now able to summon as many monsters as he wants! Tsukuyomi returns, and he pays 500 LP to set another monster. Tsukuyomi flips the Magician back down and returns to the hand. Napay: This is WiCkEd’s second Tsukuyomi this game. The first one was used against TheDungeonMaster’s Berserk Gorilla and the second one was used on WiCkEd’s own Magician of Faith which shows the flexibility of this card.
TheDungeonMaster: Yep Ace of Spades: That could hurt! Both players lost some good cards in this, WiCkEd losing a Snatch Steal along with his Tsukuyomi and TheDungeonMaster losing his Delinquent Duo. We can only hope that they got some good draws out of it. Another card is set and it moves to WiCkEd’s move. Napay: Well Ace, you gotta figure in the cost of playing the Duo and since TheDungeonMaster is low on life points, losing Duo isn’t so bad. Remember in the beginning of the duel he discarded Call of the Haunted for Graceful Charity’s effect. This would be a very different duel right now if he had Duo in his hand on his first turn and Call in his hand right now. It just goes to show that it’s not just about having the right cards in your deck, it’s also about when you draw them.
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: Wow, that’s quite a series of moves! The Nobleman returns to cross-out a Cyber Jar. Des Lacooda is flipped, allowing WiCkEd to draw another card. Magician of Faith is flipped again, and brings Pot back, which is played immediately. Having drawn three cards, he sets another M/T and resets the Des Lacooda. Magician of Faith chips away at TheDungeonMaster’s Life Points for 300. Hey, you know what they say: Any damage to the opponent is good damage. WICKED LP: 7500/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 1900
TheDungeonMaster: Do you have any Magic/Trap? Ace of Spades: TheDungeonMaster uses the Mystical Space Typhoon to get rid of Ring of Destruction, but WiCkEd doesn’t let it go to waste. Through the priority rule, he activates the Ring quick enough, taking down his own Magician for 300 damage. Napay: WiCkEd got to use his Ring because it had been previously set. Ideally, you want to have a set Mystical Space Typhoon ready to activate when your opponent sets a M/T card, then they can’t activate it when you Typhoon it. WICKED LP: 7200/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 1600 WiCkEdLoVeR696:
Draw Ace of Spades: Des Lacooda returns, drawing a card, then Dekoichi the Battle-chanted Locomotive to draw another card. A shame there aren’t any Freightening Cars on the field, otherwise he could’ve drawn an extra card. Two cards are set, and Dekoichi charges through, ramming into a Mirror Force! The attack bounces back and both the camel and the train are destroyed! WiCkEd sets another monster and ends the turn. Napay: You don’t see Des Lacooda in a lot of decks, but it sure has a nice effect, I like the way WiCkEd has built his deck to ensure that he’s got a good selection of cards refreshing his hand from time to time. And how about that Mirror Force! You can see why it’s limited to one per deck. TheDungeonMaster: Draw & endAce of Spades: Lulled into a false sense of security, TheDungeonMaster passes his turn.
WiCkEd: Draw Ace of Spades: Very cool moves! Another Magician of Faith retrieves Pot of Greed for what must be the fourth time today, drawing two more cards. WiCkEd plays his own Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy TheDungeonMaster’s only set card, which turns out to be Ring of Destruction. A mirror image of the earlier move, the Ring destroys the Magician of Faith. Napay: Magician and Pot sure make a powerful pairing. You see both these cards in nearly all the winning tournament decks. WICKED LP: 6900/ THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: 1300 Ace of Spades: WiCkEd summons his own Breaker the Magical Warrior! This could be the end, folks! Yes! Breaker jumps forward and slams his sword into TheDungeonMaster’s Life Points, finishing the game! Napay: That was one solid duel, my congratulations go out to both of these competitors. WICKED LP: 6900/THEDUNGEONMASTER LP: -600
TheDungeonMaster: Darn... I had an off day Truly a fun game, as the two players collect their decks and shake hands. WiCkEd bows to applause. Congratulations! That’s all the time we have, friends!
