Pojo Staff Duel #2: With Commentary by: WiCkEd and TheDungeonMaster Hey Yu-Gi-Oh fans! WiCkEd and TheDungeonMaster here this time for our second Pojo Staff Duel. We'll be your hosts for the evening and we hope you enjoy our company. Now here we have our very own netdecker- I mean, Card of the Day Reviewer and our most avid Forum Poster (is that even a class?) Kenshin. Some of you may notice Kenshin on the Boards, some may not, but now you do. Doooooooooooown to the dueling floor we go! It appears the two duelists are rolling two six-sided die for order, let's see whats going down!
OnlineHost:
ExMinionOfDarkness rolled 2 6-sided dice: 5 4 WiCkEd: It appears the
rivalry is already heating up eh Dungeon?
ExMinionOfDarkness:
Okay...*draws 5 + 1, then mutters a few obscenities after looking at his
hand*. WiCkEd: It appears our very own ExMinionOfDarkness AND Kenshin are having hand troubles, and bringing up a mulligan rule, why DON'T we have a mulligan rule? TheDungeonMaster: A mulligan rule would be interesting to see go on in this duel, but later on, well see what they can do.
KenshinEtErnal: Draw WiCkEd: Kenshin begins his turn by summoning the fiery Solar Flare Dragon! Things get heated up once Kenshin sets 3 set Magic or Trap cards. Getting hot in here huh? ::pulls sweaty collar:: TheDungeonMaster: Yes, things started slow, but coming out with three Spell of Traps, we might have some interesting stuff going on. LIFEPOINTS: 6500 ExMinionOfDarkness / 6500 KenshinEtErnal
ExMinionOfDarkness: Draw WiCkEd:ExMinion seems to be starting off with a bang followed by modesty, although one can only wonder whats up his shifty sleeves...isn't that right Dungeon? ::Pulls out X-Ray Goggles to see just what is up ExMinionOfDarkness' sleeves:: TheDungeonMaster: Are you suggesting that ExMoD is cheating? Nah, a net-decker likes to do that.
KenshinEtErnal: OK LIFEPOINTS: 5500 ExMinionOfDarkness / 6500 KenshinEtErnal WiCkEd: Kenshin plays his cards slowly and steadly, calculating every move like some human calcultor! Minion appears to just not care about Lifepoint standings and go right to the point to eliminate that Stealth Bird! Is this duck season? I wouldn't know! TheDungeonMaster: Nah, Duck Season comes around in the winter time, WickEd.
KenshinEtErnal: Draw WiCkEd: Wowzerz! A huge tsunami bomb just put out the flames of the SECOND Solar Flare Dragon played. I wonder what Kenshin is thinking as all his plans get a damper? TheDungeonMaster: He’s probably beliving in the “Heart of the Cards” right about now, what do you think?
ExMinionOfDarkness: draw TheDungeonMaster: Kenshin starts his comeback! Can EX make a come back? What do you think, WickEd? WiCkEd: This is one nightmare of a duel! ExMinionOfDarkness must be wondering why he even netdecked this when he keeps getting locked down!
ExMinionOfDarkness: draw LIFEPOINTS: 5000 ExMinionOfDarkness / 6500 KenshinEtErnal WiCkEd: Kenshin has a steady 1500 point lead in this game, but with Airknight Parshath coming out Kenshin could very well go out like the previous flames of his Dragons. We shall see as the next move unfolds. ::unfolds next move::
KenshinEtErnal: Hm.
Nope. WiCkEd: Well well...the Heavenly Knight stops in his tracks as a Bind is put on all level 4 or higher monsters! But the Nightmare of Nightmare Wheel is gone, so ExMinionOfDarkness must be pleased with that. DungeonMaster, how do you feel this far on the duel? TheDungeonMaster: Well, WickEd, we got a couple of great duelists here. They seem to exchange the lead many times. I guess sometimes a net decker can learn about a deck pretty fast. I’m itching to see the out come.
ExMinionOfDarkness: draw WiCkEd: After a brief check of fields the duel kicks back into gear, Kenshin appears to have THREE things up his sleeves ::points at set Magics and Traps then flashes X-Ray Goggles::. While good old ExMinionOfDarkness has ONE this up his sleeve ::flashes X-Ray Goggles again, looks like Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell as he puts them on:: this is one shifty group of duelists. TheDungeonMaster: Yes it is, but you got to pay attention to the Duel WickEd, you don’t want to be Sam Fisher, were in the middle of a great duel.
KenshinEtErnal: Draw WiCkEd: Whats this? Another modest move it appears!
ExMinionOfDarkness: draw WiCkEd: Here we go with amazing plays! ExMinion tried stopping all of the things in Kenshin's sleeves by tributing for Jinzo, but what happens? One of those tricks comes out to say hello! Why don't you let the kids know what Solemn Judgement does DungeonMaster? TheDungeonMaster: Solemn Judgement is one of the cards that are making a comeback. You pay half of your Life Points, and you can stop the activation of any Spell or Trap card, negate a summon, and even a Special Summon! People don’t play it due to the line of “Pay half of your Life Points.” This card is really make a come back in the game. LIFEPOINTS: 5000 ExMinionOfDarkness / 3250 KenshinEtErnal
ExMinionOfDarkness: nice
one. WiCkEd: ExMinion compliments the costly move and sets something down in his Magic or Trap area. Kenshin keeps up with the modesty and sets a monster, only to end shortly after. ::drinks exclusive Poison of The Old Man drink only found at the Pojo Duelist Arena, get 'em whilst they're cold!:: TheDungeonMaster: Things heat up pretty fast, and now that Kenshin got rid of Ex’s Jinzo, he’s got a lot of moves going. ::Takes sip of Diet Old Man drink.::
ExMinionOfDarkness: draw TheDungeonMaster: Wow! So Jinzo makes a comeback with Call of the Haunted, one of my personal trap cards. With 2 Spirit Reapers defending him, can he make a come back? WiCkEd: It seems Kenshin is sick after hearing the move Minion is making, I hope he knows where the restrooms are!
ExMinionOfDarkness: So
you have Curse of Darkness (Inactive), G-Bind (Inactive), 2 M/T and 2
reaper? LIFEPOINTS: 3500 ExMinionOfDarkness / 1350 KenshinEtErnal
ExMinionOfDarkness:
3500-1350 I draw WiCkEd: Wow, in a lightning flash of moves and utter destruction ExMinionOfDarkness turns the tables with this amazing deck he has oh-so-obviously netdecked and wins the game! DungeonMaster, what do you think about this ending? Did you even expect it??! ::throws arms into air wildly, throwing the Poison Of The Old Man drink into the on looking crowd behind him:: TheDungeonMaster: It’s a very nice duel between both of them. Without the Spell card Scapegoat, Ex finally finishes the Duel and wins the game. Good job to both of the Duelists. And WickEd, lets get out of here before the people behind us get angry and attack us for the Poison of the Old Man that got all over them!
Post Game Interview with WiCkEd WiCkEd: ExMoD: Who did you netdeck this time? WiCkEd: More like: Who's deck is this...REALLY? ExMinionOfDarkness: This was my Nationals deck; my original intent was to use Anthony Alvarado's deck. My experience with it originally gave a lot of dead draws, so I removed cards I got no use out of (like Enemy Controller) to make it more solid. WiCkEd: Kenshin: How do you feel you could have improve the odds in your favor early game? KenshinEtErnal: Nothing really. WiCkEd: A Blunt answer for a Blunt duelist. WiCkEd: ExMinionOfDarkness do you think netdecking is fair and just? ExMinionOfDarkness: Actually, yes, for a few reasons. Some players can play really well but just can't come up with original ideas; others don't get the chance to go out to all of the major events like the big teams, and many players make a similar deck, fail, and see a better build of their deck and just decide to go with that. There's no shame in copying a deck idea or build whatsoever, and anyone who tells otherwise is most likely an original deck creator angry that their deck idea was copied, or someone peeved at being beaten week after week, tournament after tournament, by the same exact deck minus 3 cards. WiCkEd: Kenshin: How do YOU feel about netdecking? KenshinEtErnal: I don't mind it, so long as the original creator gets credit for it. It's the same like that for school and quotes on the internet, so why would it be any different for using a decklist? ExMinionOfDarkness: I'd like to give thanks to Eric Wu and Wilson Luc, whose combined ideas were what I netdecked (and used card for card) to get my invite to the 2005 Nationals. Hopefully I'll get the chance to netdeck Team Comic Odyssey again to get an invite for 2006. KenshinEtErnal: I also want to thank the original creator of the deck I just used WiCkEd: Who is? ExMinionOfDarkness: Yourself? WiCkEd: Haha! KenshinEtErnal: l0k13 is his screen name. I don't feel an obligation to say his real name. WiCkEd: Any last words?
