Master with Eyes of Blue - #SHVI-EN021

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 Level 1 LIGHT Tuner monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can shuffle this card from your Graveyard into the Deck, then target 1 Effect Monster you control; send it to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your Graveyard, other than the sent monster. You can only use this effect of "Master with Eyes of Blue" once per turn.

It does retrieve a card on summon to replace itself.  It does retrieve from the graveyard, however, so it's a little more dependent on other cards (but it shouldn't be hard to fill up your graveyard in a Blue-Eyes deck).  I do like the fact that this card activates in the graveyard to revive the Blue Eyes.  This means that Master (despite being weak in stats), floats even further.  You can use it to partially compensate discard costs.  Overall, a good card for the deck.

Master with Eyes of Blue is another LIGHT Tuner Level 1 monster that helps the “Blue-Eyes” archetype. Much like yesterdays CoTD, you get an effect off the Normal Summon. While Sage added from the deck, you add from your graveyard a Level 1 LIGHT Tuner. With the abundance of monsters that are likely to be run in a pure Blue-Eyes deck that fulfill this requirement, MWEoB should have no trouble bringing a monster to your hand (as well as Effect Veiler).

Shuffling this card back from the grave to activate its second effect allows you to play less than a playset of this monster and still retain its efficiency. One could say you may only need one copy of this card because of the speed and different ways of getting this card to your hand or into the graveyard to activate its effect. Back to the deck master goes, an effect monster you control is sent to the grave and you get a “Blue-Eyes” monster from your grave. Steal an opponents monster and use this effect, avoiding effects off destruction, while gaining a powerful new monster and adding back a resource to your deck.

I don't know why I want these Blue-Eyed servants to have better stats, but I do. Master with Eyes of Blue is a Level 1 Light Spellcaster-type Tuner monster with 300 Atk and 1200 Def. Let's go straight to the Graveyard effects. If Master is Normal Summoned, you can add 1 Level 1 Light Tuner monster to your Hand from the grave. Without an easy way to Special Summon these Tuners, they are probably stuck in the Hand after you use this effect. This is a good time to mention the Field Spell for this deck, Mausoleum of Light. The best part of that card is that it lets you Normal Summon a Level 1 Light Tuner in addition to your first Normal Summon. It also can trigger some of the other Eyes of Blue monsters, but for now let's just enjoy the extra effects that this can provide for this week's cards.
Anyway, back to Master, his second effect activates in the grave to shuffle himself back into the Deck and then target an effect monster you control, both as cost. After you send the Targeted monster to the grave, you Special Summon a Blue-Eyes monster from the grave once per turn. The more Blue-Eyes, the better, so I'm all for this card. Soon...The Boss Blue-Eyes...

Master with Eyes of Blue

As stated in Monday’s review, Master and Protector are completely and utterly inferior to Sage. Normally, I wouldn’t write a review that’s short and sweet, but everything that I said about Protector is 100% applicable to Master with no real difference in effect or impact. It has the same future potential, as well, which is little to none.
