Wednesday - Limiter
RemovalDecks can and will
be built around this card. Mechanicalchaser becomes
3700. Jinzo becomes 4800. Barrel Dragon becomes 5200.
A DNA-Surgery'd Thousand-Eyes Idol becomes 0 (wait,
scratch that...).
What's not to like?
In my opinion, what makes this
card truly evil is the official (yes, if you don't
believe me, read the rulings PDF) ruling that Limiter
Removal will not only double the base ATK, but also
will double any boosts the monster may have. Yes, you
can double your Axe, double your Nuzzler, double your
Megamorph (4x attack *drools*), double your Ring of
Magnetism (wait, scratch that...), etc. BTW, Jinzo +
Megamorph + Limiter Removal = game over. Fear.
You can also double them all,
then launch them with Cannon Soldier (hey, he gets the
effect too!) or, even more evil, Catapult Turtle.
One thing that hasn't been
addressed by the rulings PDF is DNA Surgery. There are
two possibilities with this card related to DNA
Surgery:
1. Activate DNA Surgery,
declaring "Machine". Use Limiter Removal to double the
ATK of all your face-up monsters. Mercilessly pound
your opponent into a fine pulp. Before your turn ends,
destroy DNA Surgery or activate another one to nullify
the first one. 2. Use Limiter Removal to double your
Chasers and Barrel Dragons, pound away, then use DNA
Surgery to switch them to Insects or something =/
The way I interpret it is as
follows:
Due to the wording of the card
("At the end of this turn, all the Machine-Type
monsters on your side of the field are destroyed."), I
think that DNA Surgery would indeed prevent the
destruction of your monsters by Limiter Removal's
secondary effect, because the monsters would not be
Machines anymore. If the card had said "...all
monsters affected by this card...", then it would work
like that. Until an official ruling is made, I think
it should be played like this.
Machine decks are bound to get
more powerful as bigger and better machines are
released (the XYZ set is bound to be included in this
equation). With the Machines we have, it's possible to
build a decent Limiter Removal deck (good luck getting
3 Chasers, though), but wait until the future, when we
get the XYZ set, Cybertic Wyvern (e. Cyber-Tech
Alligator -_-), Machine King, and other goodies.
Score: 3.9 (fear)
