Red-Eyes Black Dragon (LOB)

Pretty old card to review. This card has one of the best art in Yu-Gi-Oh IMO. Unfortunately, this card is not really playable due to the fact that it requires TWO tributes to get it out. For two Tributes, I would expect a really high ATK Mon (like BEWD) or a Mon with a really good effect (like Sanga The Thunder or Barrel Dragon). But for a 2400ATK with no effect, it's not really worth it. If you are playing a Dragon Deck, just stick with BEWD and Tri-Horned Dragon for now.

Now, if you want to get Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon out, you would need REBD. However, REBMD is just not worth the trouble. I don't even think there's any card in the future sets that can help REBD out. Don't bother playing with this card...

Yonex Red-Eyes Black Dragon -- Friday

Introduction: Can i get a collar with that?

2400/2000

+Big monster
+Fusion

Bads
-Weak stats
-High tributes

Anaylsis: It finally is Friday! Well, we look at a card, that should have
been reviewd a while back when LoB was out, but oh well,

here we go! This is a 2400 monster, making it pretty big. It also is used in
fusions deck to create the big bad Black Skull

Dragon. However, it has poor stats. 2400/2000 is not really something to
brag about, especiall when your a 2 tribute monster.

For that stats, a Summoned Skull and/or Jinzo can destroy this card with no
problem, that is, if they bring it out. If you want to

use this card for fusion, I suggest using Versago the Destroyer, a much
better card to use than this big bad boy.

Rating: Poor card for it's high tribute cost. It gets a 2.0. Still will be
used, because Joey uses it and will be used in fusion decks.

Concludsion: *cough cough* Trading bait *cough cough*

Friday - Red Eyes Black Dragon

Two Words - Big Dragon :)

Not much to say Here.  He has the same drawbacks of most large monsters.  Any time you tribute, you take a chance.  However, if that tributes works, your opponent is on a severe clock to find and answer to try and win.

Just remember, because a card has a high power rating doesn't mean it's the best!

SomeGuy Friday - Red Eyes Black Dragon

Red Eyes Black Dragon is what I like to call the "Charizard" of Yu-Gi-Oh. Every time I attend Duelist League or the Duelist King Tournaments, I always see and hear kids searching for the elusive Red Eyes Black Dragon.

Just because it's hyped, doesn't mean it's good...  I would actually say it's a terrible card. It has the same 1-12 Ratio along with every other Ultra Rare in Duel Monsters. So it really isn't any rarer than pulling a Horn of Heaven or Gaia the Fierce Knight. For some reason though, it still gets the good bucks on Ebay, and most shops alike.

About the stats.... For _TWO_ Tributes you're getting an effect-less 2400/2000 ATK/DEF Monster. Ehhh, I'll take my Jinzo, and even Summoned Skull, anyday. Hell, pass me a Beast of Talwar while you're at it.

But there IS more to Red Eyes Black Dragon. You can always waste a precious Metalmorph on him to Special Summon the almighty Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon. But is it really worth it? Let's see...

Two Tributes along with the actual card (REBD), costs us three cards to just play him straight up. Throw on a Metalmorph, and that brings us to four. For the price of four cards you can get a 2800 ATK Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon. With even less cards we can do better than that.

Maha Vailo + Axe of Despair = 3050 ATK

Some random Lvl. 4 1800 attacker + Metalmorph = 2100 ATK Monster that can take down most other monsters with the help of the added effect of Metalmorph.

Not to mention all the broken Megamorph combos. *Cough* My man Aer0blade *Cough*

These are just some of the ways around using big, expensive, and cost-deficient Tribute Monsters.

So, what do you do with a spare Red Eyes Black Dragon? Sell it! (or get a great trade)

There is always Black Skull Dragon, but I think he is just as bad. Count up the cards it takes to Summon him and you'll see why...

Friday - Red Eyes Black Dragon

OK, the legalization of Megamorph and (similarly) Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon only SLIGHTLY helps the playability of this card.  As it stands, it's still a 2 tribute monster for 2400 attack power and NO effect.  If you want to play BSD, use Goddess of the Third Eye.  If you want to play REBMD, then I can't help you.  I still think this card is highly underpowered, and should not see extensive play in tournament decks.
