Friday - Red Eyes Black
Dragon Red Eyes
Black Dragon is what I like to call the "Charizard" of
Yu-Gi-Oh. Every time I attend Duelist League or the
Duelist King Tournaments, I always see and hear kids
searching for the elusive Red Eyes Black Dragon.
Just because it's
hyped, doesn't mean it's good... I would actually say
it's a terrible card. It has the same 1-12 Ratio along
with every other Ultra Rare in Duel Monsters. So it
really isn't any rarer than pulling a Horn of Heaven
or Gaia the Fierce Knight. For some reason though, it
still gets the good bucks on Ebay, and most shops
alike.
About the stats.... For
_TWO_ Tributes you're getting an effect-less 2400/2000
ATK/DEF Monster. Ehhh, I'll take my Jinzo, and even
Summoned Skull, anyday. Hell, pass me a Beast of
Talwar while you're at it.
But there IS more to
Red Eyes Black Dragon. You can always waste a precious
Metalmorph on him to Special Summon the almighty Red
Eyes Black Metal Dragon. But is it really worth it?
Let's see...
Two Tributes along with
the actual card (REBD), costs us three cards to just
play him straight up. Throw on a Metalmorph, and that
brings us to four. For the price of four cards you can
get a 2800 ATK Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon. With even
less cards we can do better than that.
Maha Vailo + Axe of
Despair = 3050 ATK
Some random Lvl. 4 1800 attacker + Metalmorph = 2100
ATK Monster that can take down most other monsters
with the help of the added effect of Metalmorph.
Not to mention all the
broken Megamorph combos. *Cough* My man Aer0blade
*Cough*

These are just some
of the ways around using big, expensive,
and cost-deficient Tribute Monsters.

So, what do you do with
a spare Red Eyes Black Dragon? Sell it! (or get a
great trade)
There is always Black
Skull Dragon, but I think he is just as bad. Count up
the cards it takes to Summon him and you'll see why...
