Monday - Valkyrion the
Magnet Warrior
This week, we're gonna
take a peekie at the three promo cards in the
English version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition (the
Japanese get the 3 God Cards IN ENGLISH ~_^), but we
get an archetype-maker (today's card), one of the
most annoying monsters in the game (Sinister
Serpent), and one of the 5 most broken cards in the
game (Harpie's Feather Duster). Without further
ado...
This card is just
screaming to have a deck built around it. Gate
Guardian tried, but failed. This guy is so much
easier to get on the field, and there are even some
fun combos to do with him.
To get him out, all you
have to do is offer the 3 Magnet Warriors (Alpha,
Beta, and Gamma, the Duelist of the Roses promos)
from a combination of your hand and the field (kind
of like Fusion/Ritual). It gets an added bonus from
not being a Fusion or Ritual, so there are no extra
cards required (you still have to draw it, though
=/). Once that happens, you have a 3500/3850
monster. If your opponent doesn't have a way to get
rid of it, it will walk all over them.
Now, for one of the most
annoying combos in the game. Ready for this? OK,
first, summon Valkyrion with his effect. OK, now
offer Valkyrion to bring back the three Magnet
Warriors from your Graveyard. Use Monster Reborn to
bring back the Valkyrion you offered. (Since it has
been properly Special Summoned, you can Monster
Reborn it.) Now, offer the three Magnet Warriors
for ANOTHER Valkyrion. You now have 2 3500/3850
monsters on the field. Sucks to be your opponent.
I predict that
people will eventually build a deck around this guy.
It's definitely one of the easiest hard-hitters to
get out, and it's simplified by the fact that the
Magnet Warriors can be fetched by either Witch or
Sangan, and you don't even need them to be on the
field. However, if you're going to build a deck
around this guys, put PLENTY of backup in it,
because, while the combo isn't very difficult to
complete, it's not that difficult to shut it down,
either =/
Score: 3.0
It has its weaknesses,
but this guy could mean BIG trouble for your
opponent.

Valkyrion The Magna
Warrior
The 2nd strongest Monster next to Gate Guardian. In a
way, it's very similar to Gate Guardian since you need
to "fuse" the 3 pieces that make it in order to get it
out. But let me tell you this, Valky is a LOT better
and playable than Gate Guardian. Reason being that you
can "fuse" the pieces from your hand/field. Alpha,
Beta, and Gamma are all non-Tribute Monsters as well
so you can always play them, unlike the Gate Guardian
Pieces. You can also use Witch/Sangan to fetch some of
the pieces. Backup Soldier can also retrieve some of
the pieces back to you as well. A cool trick that you
can pull off is if you have the 3 Pieces and 2 Valkys
in your hand. Simply tribute the 3 Pieces to get Valky
#1 in play. Tribute Valky #1 to bring back all 3
pieces onto your field. Tribute all 3 of them for
Valky #2. Then, you can simply Monster Reborn Valky #1
because it was Summoned properly. 2x 3500 ATK Monsters
on your first turn. Nice. If you have a 3rd Valky, you
can do it again and go for a one hit kill. =)
This is a cool card and all but a Valky deck probably
won't win you many tournaments. A fun deck idea to toy
around though. The main problem is getting enough
pieces to play the deck. You probably would need at
least 2 of each Magnet Warriors and roughly 2 Valkys.
You can only get the Magnet Warriors through the PS2
Game, Duelist Of the Roses (DOR). You can only get
Valky from the GBA game, Stairway to the Destinied
Duel: Worldwide Edition (SDD). You either have to buy
2-3 of each games or trade and buy them. Good luck!

Monday - Valkyrion the
Magna Warrior
If you have Alpha, beta, and gamma in the field or in
the hand, you can sacrifice all 3 to get this
3500/3850 monster. Then if those 3 pieces are in the
grave, you can sacrifice valkyrion to bring them back
to the field.
This is a better version of Gate Guardian. Since the 3
pieces only need to be in your hand or field, you can
summon this first turn. And then if you really need
some more defense monsters, you can break apart the
warrior to form the 3 pieces. Definitely a playable
card as the 3 pieces aren't too bad and can
be competitive with a few equips. And Valkyrion's
stats? 3500/3850 is unmatched by any English monster
in the game
I give this a 3.7/5. For the few that have gate
guardian decks, seriously consider making a Valkyrion
deck instead as it is a lot better. It's still
vulnerable to magic and trap, so if you summon it,
protect is with magic jammers or jinzo as you dont
want all you hard work to go down the drain. |
