Overwhelming
Forces
It's pretty hard to come up with eight mana in
most games, but this card makes you want to try
hard to get there. Destroy ALL of your
opponent's creatures (and believe me, by the
time you have enough mana to cast Overwhelming
Forces, your opponent will probably have quite a
few creatures in play!) AND draw a card for each
one destroyed, can you say CARD ADVANTAGE? You
just need to find a way to accelerate your mana.

Overwhelming
Forces
While eight mana is indeed a pretty hefty cost
for any spell, the ability to kill all of your
opponent's creatures while leaving yours
unharmed, plus the benefit of drawing a card for
each creature you kill, makes this card pretty
tempting to throw in any deck that can generate
sufficient mana, whether it be b/g or mono black
control. In constructed this is amazing, and in
multiplayer, well, it will get you killed pretty
quickly but it will be dang funny before it
does. In limited, eight mana is normally just
too high a mana cost to consider.

Overwhelming
Forces
This was apparently the predecessor to Decree of
Pain from Scourge. However, Decree of Pain is
more versatile. However, Overwhelming Forces
doesn't but your creatures at risk. The high
cost is a little steep though.

Overwhelming
Forces --
I find this card to be slightly too expensive
for serious consideration, but if you were to
design a fun deck around abusing it,
Overwhelming Forces can't be all that bad. There
were a few occasions that I played a Decree of
Pain rather than discarded it to cycling, and on
those occasions, I was pleased with the results.
There were also a number of games where I drew
it up and was disappointed that I wouldn't be
able to really use it for another three or four
turns...if I drew land all of those turns.
Overwhelming Forces probably deserves a slot in
your limited deck, as it has the potential to
completely swing the game in your favor. It will
sit in your hand as a dead card for a large
amount of the game, but when it hits, you'll
usually win. I wouldn't mind scooping it as a
first pick, but that probably means the pack it
came in is slightly weak.
