DM7FGD's OCG Deck Garage OCG Deck Help - Burn/Beatdown To begin this article, I would like to state that my OCG Deck Help section is for OCG Decks only. If you submit TCG (English) Decks to my e-mail address, I will not be looking at them. Also, if you list your Side Deck when you submit your Deck, I will also make some Side Deck suggestions if your Deck is chosen for a review. Now, for my second Deck Help article, I’ll be taking a look at a mixed-theme Deck sent in by TobiasX. So let’s get right to it and take a look at what the Deck looks like as of now. “Here is a list of cards that, for various reasons, I refuse to run in any of my decks: - Any Banned Cards (Advanced Format Only) Now, here's the OCG deck I'm playing at the moment: Tribute Monsters: 5
1x Dark King Dragon - Vandorgaron ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2005/3-14-2.shtml ) 1x Jinzo 1x Mobius the Frost Monarch 1x Kaiser Glider Other Monsters: 11 Spells: 16 1x Pot of Greed 1x Premature Burial 3x Shrink ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2004/4-19.shtml ) 2x Book of Moon 1x Scapegoat Traps: 10 1x Waboku 1x Call of the Haunted 2x Metal Reflect Slime ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2003/9-29-03.shtml ) 1x Ultimate Offering 1x Magic Jammer 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Divine Wrath Total Deck: 42” Now, we can certainly have some fun with this one, and I think it would be a good idea to turn this into a nice sort of Burn/Beatdown Deck with Vandorgaron and Dread-Root. Let’s start out with your Monster lineup. It looks ok, but there are quite a few completely unnecessary Monster inclusions there. Get rid of Kaiser Glider, Gigantes, Penguin Soldier, and the Kuribohs. They won’t be able to help much in here, neither as the Deck is now, or as it will be after my suggestions. Jinzo will be better for the Side Deck, as you’re going to want to be able to use your Traps whenever possible for Vandorgaron, and you don‘t want Jinzo getting in the way. Mobius can stay, as you say you refuse to use Breaker, and it will help you with M/T removal. That along with Vandorgaron and Dread-Root are enough high-level Monsters for this Deck. Add a second Spirit Reaper to help you more with the stalling and DDVD. It’s going to help a lot with Dread-Root, its ATK isn’t too weak at all, and it can help with Vandorgaron if you have trouble Special Summoning it via a Counter Trap Card. Throw in a Stealth Bird, as well, to help with a Burn theme, and it can be used with DDVD. Add in a Marshmallon ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2003/12-28.shtml ) to help with the Burn theme and stalling for Dread-Root/Vandorgaron. A Kycoo would be nice to combat Chaos and opposition Revival, and 1800 ATK isn’t half-bad, so let‘s get a Kycoo in there, too. An Enraged Battle Ox will help out your Gorillas and give you some Trample abilities to work with, so get one of those into the Monster lineup. As for the Magic Cards, get rid of one of the Shrinks (Shrink is actually a Quick-Play Magic Card, by the way, for those who may become confused from my article listing it as a Normal Magic Card), as three will not be necessary. The Smashing Grounds are alright, but there are better cards to be used in here, so let‘s move one of those to the Side Deck. In their places, add a second Devil’s Sanctuary to help out the Burn theme a little bit. It’ll also help you stall for Dread-Root/Vandorgaron, and work with DDVD. Throw in a Mystical Space Typhoon, as well, for the pretty much necessary added M/T removal. I would suggest moving the Scapegoat to the Side Deck, as well (since it’ll be nice for stalling in here but won’t really help too much and could likely hold you up, which you won‘t have time for), and replacing it with a Magician of Faith to be able to retrieve Magic Cards. As for the Traps, get rid of the Waboku, Metal Reflect Slimes, Ultimate Offering, Seven Tools and Divine Wrath. Try focusing more on the Burn aspect of Vandorgaron and just use three Magic Jammers. Replace the Slimes with two Dead Spirit - Zomas ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2004/10-11.shtml ). They’ll help you out more in being able to do some damage to your opponent and support the Burn aspect of your Deck. Replace the Ultimate Offering with a Monster Reincarnation for your Magic Card lineup (or a Magic Drain if you want to have more options for Vandorgaron. If not, have a Magic Drain in the Side Deck), and replace the Waboku with a Foolish Burial ( http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2003/10-25.shtml ) to speed things up a little bit. That’s about it. These suggestions will also bring your Deck down to 41 cards, which will be a little bit easier to work with than 42. In such a Deck. Here is what the finished product would look like. Monster Cards: 16 1x Dark King Dragon - Vandorgaron Magic Cards: 17 2x Devil’s Sanctuary Trap Cards: 8 3x Magic Jammer Total Cards: 41 And that’s what your Main Deck would look like. Now, I’d like to make some Side Deck suggestions for you to consider, as well. You didn’t list your Side Deck in your Deck submission, so I’m just going to think one up for you here that I feel would be ideal for this Deck of yours. Just a nice variety of cards to work with here. Side Deck: 15 1x Jinzo 1x Dimensional Warrior 1x Stealth Bird 1x Spirit Reaper 1x Enraged Battle Ox 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Scapegoat 1x Shrink 1x Smashing Ground 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Magic Drain That’ll do it for my second OCG Deck Help article. Good luck with your Deck, TobiasX, and as always, I hope my suggestions were helpful to you. Once again, send in your Japanese Decks to dm7fgd32@hotmail.com and your Deck could be chosen to be featured here.Until next time.. ~ DM7 … And The Path Goes On …
